Shikamaru vs anyone

I've seen lots of posts, claiming shikamaru to be at above-Kage level ninja & all that.....I dont quite agree to it.
Its a straight fact that he doesnt have any good jutsu to take down the top class ninjas, any of them....he's too smart, but that doesnt mean he can 'WIN'.....I mean, he might be able to predict accurately, but there'll come a time when it wont matter, because his mind may be too quick, but not the body.....
What his skill is,is to make best possible use of whatever resources are available to him......he can make plans for defeating a powerful ninja by using 3 fodders, or can lay-out a plan to defeat 4 strong ninjas by using 4 average ninjas(with strategy, for eg separating them & then taking them down one by one, or any such strategies)
just look at his father.... shikaku was most intelligent ninja, but he never actually fought one on one battles, he just made the plans...so these guys can create wonders by making the best out of what resources are available to them, but when it comes to tackling the class ninjas one on one, they simply dont have the power to do it....

It is true that Shikamaru is smart but indeed that does not make him above-Kage level.
He can make a plan in almost every situation but he does not have a lot of power like very strong jutsu's
and that's also important in a fight.

I consider him jonin level only regarding his analytical skills and support capabilities, but as a frontline fighter he's a disgrace. He will never be kage level without firepower.
I agree with you, 1v1 he's screwed against many shinobi in narutoverse.

The thing is, (and im not underestimating Shikamaru and Shikaku here I think they're some of the strongest) You can make as many plans and strategies and traps as you like, sometimes the enemy can just have pure force and that can overwhelm the person entirely. Intelligence also comes from knowing WHO to fight.

I think the only members of the Akatsuki Shikamaru could defeat are the stupid and reckless ones. Deidara, Hidan and possibly Sasori.

i dont care how smart you are. if someone is much much faster and stronger than you, your brain will see it coming but your body cant do shit and you'll be murdered horrifically. even if your the most stupid and reckless guy out there, if your sufficiently strong, no amount of strategy will help. shadow mimic failed vs kinkaku who broke it in less than a second. it took the entire clan to hold incomplete juubi down.
