well you never know since he wasn't the main character he wasnt developed as much as he woulda been if he was the main character. I could see a mini series for shikamaru being entertaining but when it comes to shounen you kinda need a character like naruto. ever notice goku, luffy, and naruto are all similar characters? and I wonder if since sumo wrestlers are looked at as strong in japan if that is why they made these strong characters all eat so much

If Naruto wasn't the main character than I think Rock Lee would be the best choice. Shikamaru is a good character but he's too serious. The show wouldn't be as funny with him as the main character. It would be more serious and dark because Shikamaru had to grow up fast and act like an adult.
