Shikamaru decline

Shikamaru used to be a pretty important character and had a steady development arc, but in recent times he has been neglected and forgotten. Yeah, sure he had som panels here and there, but nothing significant.

He's not the only one, several character that used to be important in Naruto have now been forgotten. I used to love Naruto for the characters...

Is this just me or does anyone agree with me?

Well he did have that awesome speech several chapters back.

Other than that, I think he's been getting build up to do something awesome.

It's because of the slow development , I mean all K11 were important at the start of the war ,and in the last 20 chapters it's all about Naruto and Sasuke.

Honestly the Naras' "plans" in the Juubi fight haven't really impressed me very much...

He also made a pretty amazing plan in the war, and it seemed to work out, not only that but Kiba has shown an amazing feat doing at least ONE shadow clone jutsu v_v

nope, was never on the importance of the level of characters that are on the field right now.

Its like expecting Nami to be of main importance, when you have the 7-warlords/Younkou/Revolutionaries/other Captains on the battlefield.. uh no not gonna happen.

lol, you really think they were important at the start of the war? None of them have been important since the end of Part 1, let alone this war. Not trying to put them down, I really do wish Kishi had put more focus on the other characters throughout the series, but lets face it: nearly the entire span of Shippuden could have played out the exact same way if almost every single side character had died off during the time skip.

It can't just be Shikamaru. There's the rest of K11, they're very important too and play some major roles in some aspects and if they weren't, then that chapter about them against those Juubi clones and them done the Rasengan against Juubi's defense wouldn't had been made. Maybe later on hopefully he and the others will play some more roles and all we have to do is wait and be patient.

Shikamaru also had that chapter where he almost died and everyone made a big deal about it also.

the members of k11 all have clan based jutsu outside of naruto and sasuke, the other members of k11 are limited to their clan based jutsu which is why they all reach a limit...neji and lee are the only ones that can make improvements because neji is capable killing shinobi much higher ranked when he was a kid, also lee can get as good as guy which is pretty damn powerful so...but yea shikamaru and everyone outside of neji,naruto,sasuke, and lee would be hard to be developed....also the only realistic improvements shikamaru can make is in his intellect and experience, he is already a genius and is capapble of beating shinobi who possess greater skill than him because of his genius

Compared to all of the other main characters, Shikamau has actually been shown quite a lot.

Shikamaru was actually my second favorite. Now I agree with you. He's not even a character anymore. Just a plot device to wank Naruto. For goodness sake, he wanked Naruto and said Naruto was like a brother to him--while he was dying in Choji'a arms. That relationship with Choji was much more developed than his with Naruto. His motivation isn't to live for his father or Asuma. No, it's all Naruto.

I think Shikamaru's development is fine personally, I mean he hasn't been shown much in the last few chapters but he was kinda on his deathbed til Tsunade helped him out. He will come back into the pic soon, Im sure. Be glad Lee and Ten Ten got some panel time! Now we haven't seen them in a bit and im glad they seem to be handling Neji's death well....too well...

He gonna be a charity case if anyone else dies. He lost his father and he lost his sensei, someone got it out for his team.

Shikamaru used to be a major character (what Gaara is), but recently, Kishi is forgetting all about the freakin' genius with an IQ of 300.

I miss the Shikamaru that ran his own squad in the first Naruto series and in the Hidan and Kakuzu arc.

Nowadays, he's been downgraded to a supporting character, like the rest of the K11.
