Looks:Shikaku has two scars on the right side of his face which are probably his most distinctive feature. He has dark hair tied up into a spiky ponytail, dark eyes as well as a goatee. His ears are also pierced . In Part I, Shikaku wore a meshed shirt underneath his flak jacket, a deer skin coat over that and hand guards. In part II however, he has been seen in the standard Konoha shinobi outfit. In the anime, Shikaku also has a scar on the left side of his face as well.
Personality:Shikaku is a bit of an alcoholic. He is a very intelligent but lazy person(as his son), yet he is also quite caring, and is ready to jump into action when needed. He is able to maintain strict determination at the moment of a battle and is confident about his abilities. As he is the head of the Nara Clan, it is supposed that he has total mastery of the clan’s Techniques.

Background Info.
History:Shikaku Nara (奈良シカク, Nara Shikaku) is the father of Shikamaru Nara. "Shika" means deer but "shikaku" can mean assassin. Like his son, he was part of an Ino-Shika-Cho trio, together with Choza Akimichi and Inoichi Yamanaka. He is married to Yoshino Nara who, as his son says, has him whipped.Both him and his son have been shown to be trated badly or at least annoyed by women. As a member of the Nara clan, he raises deer, whose antlers can be used to make a medicine which halts the destructive effects of the Akimichi clan's three colored pills. Along with his former teammates, Inoichi and Choza, he helped defend Konoha from attack by Sand and Sound-nin. When he is first seen he is shown as a bit of an alcoholic and also useses some of Shikamaru's catchphrases .Shikamaru says that his wike has him wipped. Both Shikaku and Shikamaru tend to have bad relations with women and tend to find them annoying . Also like his son, he is a very intelligent but lazy person, yet he is also quite caring, and is ready to jump into action when needed. As the leader of the clan, it can be assumed that he has total mastery on the clan�s jutsus . He is skill enough to use the clan�s shadows and attack at the same time .He was also shown to be much better than Asuma at Shogi .
Along his journeys around the world in order to master his shadow techniques, Shikaku reached the Demon Country and encountered a group of people.After proving his skills and knowledge , they decided to allow him the entrance to the Nekura Clan, making him the first Nara Clan member to join this prestigious clan. Shikaku decided to keep this as a secret to his village so they wouldn't doubt his loyalty.
