In light of how good your day has been, is the manner in which Kisame uses the Shark Blade optimal?

Particularly in combat scenarios, we saw Kisame mostly use the blade to absorb energy and block attacks, then take that absorbed energy and amplify his own attacks. This is a defensive application that feeds into offensive usage.

However, we also saw - against Killer B of the Eight-Tailed Beast - that the blade can move on its own (and at speeds Kisame himself can barely perceive, as repeated against KCM Naruto) and can grow in size and charge at opponents with absorbed energy. This gives Kisame the possibility to use a different fighting style.

Instead of powering himself up, Kisame could allow the blade to keep absorbed energy and charge at foes at gargantuan sizes.

Firstly, this would give him a complete numbers advantage. With his normal usage, it can be argued the blade could work as a partner for breaking illusions, but little else. If applied alternatively, the blade would not always he with Kisame but would serve as a giant distraction - at minimum - to his opponents, allowing him to land clean hits in a world of mostly mortal opponents where one kunai is all it takes to end things. And besides the in-verse practicality of it, it would likely bring fateful advantages. In the shonen genre, having friends is always treated as a superior position to be in instead of amassing all power for yourself. So with the likes of Itachi - his partner - having conceded against the idea of trying things alone, Kisame being a character who fights with a fully freed ally would surely lead to script advantages for him.

Secondly, this would have tactical advantages. Even besides the numbers tactical advantage, letting the blade loose would allow Kisame to use various battle formations such as herding his opponents in traps. With the blade constantly charged up on energy, it would also provide superior ambush protection when compared to its normally wrapped-up state. With this style, he would also have a practically immortal partner who is a full level above him in stats, which greatly increases his chances of survival should he find himself up against an outright superior opponent. And of course, with the blade doing a greater degree of the fighting, Kisame himself would he less susceptible to blindside attacks.

Thirdly, it would strengthen what is already the best part of his setup. His defense is directly boosted by having a boss summon sized tool. With the blade having an absorption distance of approximately 2m at normal size, if it grew to the size of a boss summon it could absorb attacks from perhaps 20m away. The bigger blade would also offer greater threat with regards to physically attacking opponents with bites and stabs.

And combining all three, a bigger blade gives Kisame an easier time of substituting himself inside it and launching additional of surprise elemental attacks against an opponent only expecting a large biting attack. Substituting inside it would also offer an all-around shield, of course.

As for when they are not facing opponents who have or rely on high energy attacks, Kisame himself having as much energy as a tailed beast would allow this style to be applied against anyone.

What aay you? Would Kisame benefit from using this style? How does it compare against his normal style, particularly against opponents who are not beast hosts?
