Sharingan --> Rinnegan? (evolution)

If the rinnegan is an evolution of the sharingan, then why doesn't it seem like the rinnegan could do any of the sharingan techs? Examples of the sharingan's techs are the ability to read body movements, hand seals, and copy jutsus. But if you have the rinnegan, then I guess there is no need for the sharingan techs (six paths, five elemental release, linked vision). Still though, I'd like to see the rinnegan do something the sharingan could do to give sufficient evidence that it is an evolution of the sharingan (besides amaterasu and susanoo).

plus with rinnengan you can create your six paths and 'have 12 eyes' - much better than only 2 sharingans

Madara's sharigan and Rinnegan are combined. When he made the wood clones he only made them to have his EMS abilities which was the reason why they all died to dust release.
