Sharingan Retcon?

Is it not obvious? In Madara's era there was constant fighting and war; especially between the Uchiha and Senju. This increases the obvious probability that many Uchiha would awaken the Sharingan. The entry that says not many awaken it probably refers to the beginning of the series when war was not as common and the most recent war was the time of the Sannin.

Easy, during Madaras time Uchihas were constantly at war so they awakened it but in Konoha there was no need to fight so not many Uchihas had it.
