Sharingan Genjutsu

Can it be used on non-sentient creatures? Like animals? I haven't seen any cases where it has been (but I'm hoping someone can change that)


If so, how come Itachi didn't just use it on the wild boar or why Sasuke didnt use it against the Ninja Ostrich? Seems like it'll be much easier to capture them that way.

Sarada could've used it on the bear in Boruto
