No need for RP based training lol. I usually reserve that for 1 and 2T. Before we start, let's do a small refresher course to see if you understand the Sharingan so far.

Speaking solely on it's ability to perceive chakra, what are it's limits in relation to matter based obstacles? How does it interact with dense solids? How does it perceive elemental chakra?

Ahh the Dōsatsugan, Eye of Insight is the particular side of the Sharingan that allows the user to perceive motion, chakra, and to an extent distance. Although able to see chakra, the Sharingan is inferior to the cognition of a Byuakugan in that it can't see over long distances and when it comes to chakra beyond solid objects the Sharingan cannot properly differentiate, I would imagine a blurry image of the said chakra. For instance, an opponent in the ground up to short ranged of a Sharingan holder can be clearly seen as an outline of chakra, but to mid ranged that outline gradually degrades to a blob, then by long ranged it would be barely distinguishable by a streak or blot of chakra. This is for chakra within dense solids of course. I mean, I don't know for sure but this is my estimate. So it can see through dense objects, but severely handicapped.

When comes on to elemental chakra I would imagine the Sharingan sees them in different textures and colors. Textures meaning their appearance rather than actual formation. Wind chakra would be green? And swift looking, like actual wind. Earth chakra should be brown, and abrasive looking, making sharp, blunt movements as its molded in the body or in the environment. Fire, would be red I think, and similar to Wind chakra as it would move with some sort of swelling motion, like hot air. And then Water chakra would be...blue? Smooth looking, calm and collect. And then Lightning gotta be purple, and erratic, sharp, unpredictable movements with jagged edges. This is just guessing as though I never seen it in the anime, Sharingan users such as Sasuke could differentiate chakra flows but I guess they never really explained how.

You have to understand that this training is very lengthy at times to fully explain things, so bear with me Lol....

You have some parts correct and are a bit iffy on others. First, one should understand the main difference in between the two Doujutsus lies in their usage and the purpose of it. What makes Byakugan unique isn't that the user can see through chakra. It's that it can focus past anything to see this chakra. It has almost no blindspot, and can pinpoint any detail. In essence, Byakugan differs from Sharingan because it is a telescopic vision, and a much more detailed chakra visual capabilities, able to pinpoint the specifics indentations and variations of chakra (though a Byakugan user will be able to explain in more detail of course).

Sharingan, on the other hand, is a more brutish chakra vision, it can sense the bulk of the chakra, and the general shape and flow of the system that composes a technique or organisms. It is effective in seeing what's hidden, what's wrong, and what's real. The Sharingan has a type of dual layered vision, regular eyesight that all Shinobi and beings have and then a Chakra/X-ray type vision, that overlap with one another to create the visual map Sharingan users have. Their ability to see chakra inside a solid non chakra infused object is related to the ability they have of focusing between each "vision". If you understand a bit of photography you can understand this as similar to focal points. If you focus on something near, you blur away whats far, and the other way around. If you translate that into the chakra VS normal light vision things, you can understand how it works a bit better. Its like looking at glass. You can see the glass or focus to see past it. They can see chakra inside matter otherwise they wouldn't see chakra at all as chakra isn't something that goes flying around in the air. Its always ( or almost always lol ) inside a medium, solid 90% of the time, like the human body. They see chakra inside something by unfocusing they normal vision ( so to speak ) and focusing on the chakra part. Thats why most of the times, when it comes to trying to find something hidden or something hard to find you often see them "focusing" on their vision.

There are 3 key factors that come into effect when determining if the Sharingan can see the chakra of an object:

1. Distance: Sharingan can see but they can't zoom or anything. They are simply normal eyes that can see chakra and details and what not. But they can't zoom or become microscopes or telescopes like the byakugan can.
2. Type of Medium: Something that wasn't created by chakra will always be easier to see through than something created by chakra, even if chakra is no longer there.
3. Chakra "Zize": Depending on the amount of chakra in an object, you might be able to see it better than other objects. An example would be a 8 meter tall earth creature filled with S rank chakra vs a rat sized ball of E rank fire chakra, assuming both are hidden by the same 10 meter tall and 1 meter thick glass wall.

Now what does this translate to? I think they can see chakra inside a medium as long as its like half a meter to a few meters inside it. Further than that, no. Dust clouds, Wind barriers, etc; if you have them big enough, the enemy wouldn't be able to see you unless you are visible in normal eye sight. As for specific mediums, there is a bit more to it. If the medium is completely solid, i.e., you cannot see through it with your own eyes, then you will only be able to see through it up to a meter or so. If the medium is transparent, then yes.

An example Lili brought up in the past was using fire and glass for instance. Let's assume both are a meter or so thick. Can you see through the thick glass? If so, then a Sharingan user can see it too. Can you see through the fire? The answer is no, so a Sharingan user can't see through either. The bottom line is basically:

Transparent + Chakra = Sharingan Yes, Normal Yes
Transparent, no Chakra = Sharingan Yes, Normal Yes
Opaque + Chakra = Sharingan No, Normal No
Opaque, no Chakra = Sharingan Yes, Normal No

Does that make much sense lol?

Well, you have some knowledge on this but let me explain. The Sharingan is able to differentiate between the different natures based on how these natures characteristics are. It cannot look at, for example, pooling Katon chakra and automatically understand it to be Fire chakra. However, Fire chakra reacts a certain way; it has certain traits that distinguish it from other natures that allow you to determine that it is indeed Katon chakra. Appearing as waves of chakra that have a wavy nature, similar to heat waves that are seen on very hot days, Katon chakra becomes easier to determine. Fuuton chakra appears as if sharp lines/crescents that mirror small blades of chakra, Suiton chakra has a flowing appearance, moving in a push-pull pattern reminiscent to a tide, Doton chakra is dense, and appears rigid, extremely thick while Raiton chakra is as you said, erratic and unpredictable.

As for colors, the color of chakra generally varies between the different users of chakra and sometimes, their clan. Madara identified people's clan by looking at their chakra, so there is some truth in the fact that clans have certain chakra traits, I believe.

Whoa, I definitely learned something here. I only have one major query:

I was always lead to believe that the Sharingan can see through techniques. Now in terms of the fire technique for example, it would only register to the user as a glob of Katon chakra, and he wouldn't be able to see beyond it to its source. Because as you explained the Sharingan lacks microscopic and telescopic sight. But can any Doujutsu see beyond techniques? I'm guessing neither the Byuakugan nor the Rinnegan would be able to see through that fire technique.

I think its all clarified now, especially the seeing chakra part. Thanks for the refresher course. Now that that's on the table, how does the Sharingan see through an illusion? Say I had a 2T which can only pierce through B ranked illusions, and i was placed in an A ranked illusion. The Sharingan can't pierce through it, but would it with its chakra seeing properties be able to tell me I'm in an illusion, I mean we saw Danzo looking at himself when he suspected he was in an illusion.

The Byakugan has telescopic sight, and I believe would be able to see through chakra sources, though don't take my word for this; I'm no Byakugan expert xD.

Piercing through an illusion is a rather passive ability. This is achieved through the Sharingan being able to see chakra and if€ it is a visual genjutsu, they would see the chakra in the surroundings and would know it's an illusion ( after proper reasoning as well, ofc ) and use their visual acuity to see past the illusion.

Alright now pure genjutsu lol. Sharingan genjutsu is pretty powerful. What can you tell me about the Sharingan genjutsu in general? It also has abilities related to genjutsu, while not directly casting them. What are these? What else do you know about it's Genjutsu related abilities?

Well Sharingan Genjutsu techniques lie in the visual Genjutsu area, with the occasional tactile options. How it works is by the user sending his chakra into his optic nerves, which are then amplified or toyed with by the Sharingan(s) to then send this chakra into an opponent's brain either through his own eyes, sending your chakra into his head using his optic nerves, or just sending it into his head. This is the basis of eye contact and non eye contact Sharingan techniques.

The abilities related to Genjutsu that the Sharingan posses is the ability to alter sensations and thoughts of the opponent with the use of the user's chakra- as is the rudimentary use of all Genjutsu. But the Sharingan Genjutsu differs in that it is a sentient technique so to call it, able to be changed/altered by the user in a much more unrestrained way than regular Genjutsu. One prime example is Itachi's uncanny way of replicating reality in real time to utmost detail to the point where opponents can't tell reality from illusion. This is just an hypothesis of course, as I'm not too versed on Sharingan Genjutsu. Lastly, I know Sharingan Genjusu can affect, people, clones, and animals with either hypnosis or just illusions. And, quite interestingly, when Itachi had sent Naruto a Genjutsu in the beginning of Shippuden he was able to persist the illusion when Naruto was attempting to Kai out, as Naruto formed the hand seal for Kai Itachi turned his lingering illusion crows into shuriken to stab him all over, using the pain to instill the illusion even longer to the point where Sakura had to release him from the Genjutsu.

@first bold: That is correct, more or less. As with all forms of Genjutsu, a medium is required. With most Sharingan Genjutsus, this medium is Visual, requiring the user to be able to cast a genjutsu through eye contact alone, however not all do this. A specific one that doesn't require eye contact would be (Doujutsu: Shiranui) - Eye Technique: Phosphorescent light. This one is triggered by having a line of vision with the target, being able to physically see him.

@second bold: This is correct and incorrect; Hypnosis and Genjutsu are innately different on the site, both having their own traits. While very similar, one is more primitive than the other ofc. One thing you missed, in regards to the Sharingan's Genjutsu related abilities, is that the Sharingan is able to pierce through Visual Genjutsus as well as reverse other genjutsus cast upon the user. Starting with the first, Visual Genjutsus, are genjutsus that take on a Visual trait primarily. This means that Genjutsus that primarily are used to alter your sense of sight and what you are able to Visually interpret are considered Visual Genjutsus. Sharingans are able to break through this visual illusion with ease, due to their natural "piercing" abilities, allowing the user to see through it. How this is achieved isn't an exact science but we reason it to be along the lines of simply focusing your vision once you have reasoned it is an illusion and piercing through it with ease, an instinctive and relatively quick process, taking next to no time in the timeframe and being passively achieved. However, this is only viable for Visual Genjutsus. As for other Genjutsus that plague the mind, should you reason it to be a Genjutsu, you are able to reverse the genjutsu itself, though we will touch on this in greater detail later.

And now, we move on to the actual Genjutsus themselves. They can be best divided into Genjutsus of similar groups instead of the repetitive grinding of the same ones over and over.

The first are the Sharingan Genjutsus that do not require direct eye contact, but rather a line of sight of the opponent. A large portion of these genjutsus are designed to incapacitate the foe while not causing direct damage to them in most cases. These methods include binding, and paralyzation.

None Eye Contact Requiring Genjutsu:

(Doujutsu: Shiranui) - Eye Technique: Phosphorescent light
Rank: C
Type: Offensive, Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra cost: 15
Damage points: 30
Description: The user will cast an illusion to make the opponent see six copies of the user that detonate simultaneously harming the target. The explosions are explosive kunai to deal damage whilst the enemy is distracted in the genjutsu.
Note: Requires tomoe 3 sharingan.

Relatively easy to cast, you cast the illusion that there are suddenly 6 of you that attack him by exploding. What really happens is you throw explosive kunai hidden by the genjutsu. It doesn't require eye contact, but it does require the 3 Tomoe Sharingan to be active.

(Bōshi Genjutsu: Koukon Karasu) – Illusionary Eye Technique: Dusk Crow
Rank: B
Type: Supplementary
Range: Mid
Chakra cost: 20
Damage points: N/A
Description: This is an advanced Sharingan technique the user traps the enemy in an illusion without any eye contact, similar to Ephermal. The Genjutsu traps the victim in a torrent of crows, leaving them at the users mercy.

I can't find the exact scene it was found in the anime, but I have a picture of it below. Under the picture is a varied usage of it by Itachi in a game. It can be seen at 1:43 - 1:54.

You must be registered for see images

(Bōshi Genjutsu: Utakata) - Illusion Eye Technique: Ephemeral
Rank: B
Type:Supplementary
Range:Short-Mid
Chakra Cost:20
Damage Points:40
Description: An illusion were the user simple points at the target and if the target glances at the pointing hand they fall into a genjutsu where they first see birds and then they turn to kunai that attack them. They are future damaged by being tortured by images of there friend insulting them.
Note:This is an advanced sharingan genjutsu.

A genjutsu that Itachi used against Naruto with the aim of causing him to pass out. He pointed his hand and caused a flock of crows to fly towards Naruto, that swiftly turn into shuriken that pierce the target and slash him, causing pain. As this happens, the pain is intended to break the target's concentration and fall asleep. However, they likely won't and will stay woke, trying to resist the genjutsu. As this happens, they see their body parts changing into the faces and bodies of their old friends and allies, tormenting and ridiculing them. This mental torture is used with the goal of causing the enemy to pass out and faint in the genjutsu while forcing them to sleep in the real world. A vid link is below that shows how it looks when used.

(Doujutsu: Chuubo no Yuuku) – Eye Technique: Paralyzing Fear
Rank: B
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short – Mid
Chakra cost: 20
Damage points: N/A
Description: The user will cast a Genjutsu upon the target in which they will see a shadowy figure appear infront of them bearing the Sharingan and then the figure will grow to an enormous size over shadowing the target in pitch-black darkness. The figure will then grab hold of the target and then will cover them in black threads, leaving them paralyzed for a period of time. (This was shown by sasuke against Shi)
Note: Must have tomoe 3 to use and paralyzing effects last 1 turn.

By having a line of sight to the foe, you cast a genjutsu on them that causes them to see a massive figure in front of them that bears the Sharingan. This figure grabs the target and causes paralyazation to come into effect for a turn.

( Dōjutsu: Jigokuken ) - Eye Technique: Sword Hell
Rank: B
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra cost: 20
Damage points: N/A
Descrption: The user casts the illusion upon the opponent where the surroundings similary to Tsukiyomi go black and white and swords then begin levitating around the user and the opponent spinning around before the user then manipulates the swords to peirce the opponents body. The initial attack causes mental damage and temporarily paralyses the opponents body restricting their overall performance. (paralysing lasts 1 turn)
Note: Can only be used with tomo 3 sharingan.

Similar to the above, you cause the opponent to see several swords around them this time, all of which pierce the body and prevent movement while causing mental damage ( this should be edited to reflect this btw ) and 1 turn paralyzation as well.

(Doujutsu: Hazumi no Reikon) - Eye Technique: Bound by Soul Technique
Rank: B
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short - Mid
Chakra cost: 20
Damage points: N/A
Description: The user will cast a genjutsu that immobilizes the target. In the genjutsu the target is bound to a leaf spinning around in the dark. This technique temporarily binds the target leaving them open to attack. (this technique is shown when sasuke tried to bind killer bee in genjutsu but to ill effect from being released by his bijuu).
Note: Must have tomo 3 sharingan and bind lasting 1 turn.

Once more, as you see, this Genjutsu also incapacitates the enemy for a single turn, this time bound to a leaf spinning in the dark.

You can see the similarities between all of these rather easily.

So I understand the non-eye contact side of the the illusions now, but I have a question. With the chakra perceptive abilities of the Sharingan could I cast a Genjutsu on an opponent who is behind an ordinary wall? Does that count as line of sight?

And I seem to favor these two the most:
(Doujutsu: Shiranui) - Eye Technique: Phosphorescent light & (Doujutsu: Chuubo no Yuuku) – Eye Technique: Paralyzing Fear

Alright, next are Sharingan Genjutsu that require eye sight. These are the harder ones to pull off, but often more rewarding and powerful compared to the last group I taught you. Some of these, as you may notice, have the ability to affect long range foes.

(Bōshi Magen: Kyouten Chiten) - Demonic Eye Illusion: Heaven And Earth Change
Rank:C-S
Range:Short-Long
Chakra Cost: N/A (equal to the cost of the countered technique)
Damage Points:N/A (equal to the power of the countered technique)
Description:This is a illusion counter were, through the use of their sharingan, an Uchiha can take control over an enemy illusionary techniques and reverse it back into the opponent by taking control of it and releasing oneself at the same time. With 1 Tomoe, it can affect C-Rank and below illusions. With 2 Tomoe it can affect B-Rank and bellow illusions. With a 3 Tomoe, it can affect A-Rank and below illusions. With MS/EMS it can affect S-Rank and bellow illusions. Can only be used once every two turns.

Pretty epic, this is useful in battles when a genjutsu has been placed upon you. After first realizing you are indeed in a genjutsu through whatever method you have available ( sentient armors, outside sources confirming it, reasoning, Sharingan if visual genjutsus, etc ), you channel chakra and whatever illusion was afflicting you will be reversed onto them. The main issue I have with it is that it states the various levels it can be used at, yet Sharingan genjutsu can only be learned at 3 Tomoe level, making 1T and 2T parts pointless. Anyway, as this is 3T training, your Sharingan will be able to reverse up to A ranked and below illusions and cast the enemy themselves under their own illusion. There is debate over whether eye contact is needed to cast this or not, aswhen ITachi used it, he was looking up at Kurenai but there is no clear indicator that he was looking into her eyes and vice versa. For now, until a consensus is reached, assume that eye contact is needed.

( Doujutsu: Genjutsu Sharingan ) - Eye Technique: Copy Wheel Eye Illusion
Rank: C - S
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra cost: 15 - 40
Damage points: N/A
Description: This technique is simply the use of generic genjutsu used by members of the Uchiha clan. By simply having their opponents look into their eyes, the Uchiha can lock the user within a genjutsu of their choosing.
Note: Can only be used with 3 tomoe sharingan

Possibly, the best Sharingan genjutsu there is. its used to make pretty much any genjutsu the user wishes "given that it's logical enough" through eye contact, yes, any genjutsu you want can be done by this technique, it doesn't mean posting a technique, only using your imagination to create a genjutsu, it doesn't mean that you have to use a cannon genjutsu through eye contact, the technique itself is a genjutsu, but the condition to meet for it is hard, which is mutual eye contact. The usage for this technique can vary, given that there are different types of genjutsu, it can be used as one to deceive your opponent, or paralyze them using chains or similar means. One thing that must be done each time is creating a genjutsu that is possible to be broken and/or reasoned as a genjutsu.

(Bōshi Magen: Nenshou Kamihada ) Demonic Eye Illusion: Burning Paper Body
Rank: B
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Long
Chakra Cost: 25
Damage: N/A
Description: A sharingan Genjutsu, it requires eye contact with the opponent. The opponent is then made to believe that their body is made of paper and is burning, reducing their dexterity of movement, stopping them from performing handseals.
Note: Requires three tomoe Sharingan and eye contact

Itachi performed this in the anime and it was unnamed at the time, just known as an unspecified generic Sharingan genjutsu. This is one of the various jutsus they used. Looking at the foe's eyes, you trap them in this genjutsu where they believe their limbs are paper and as such, are scared to move their bodies much due to this fear.

(Bōshi Magen: Ketataumo ) Demonic Eye Illusion: Piercing Feathers
Rank: B
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Long
Chakra Cost: 30
Damage: N/A
A weaker version of Demonic Illusion: Shackling Stakes, it makes the opponent believe that numerous black feathers have pierced their body and trapped them, causing them pain and immobility.
Note: Requires two tomoe Sharingan and eye contact to use

I had previously looked for this one but was unable to locate it. Thankfully, Rikerslade found a pic for it during his training. But it's essentially a genjutsu created through eye contact, that causes them to believe a lot of feathers have pierced the body and trapped them, causing them mental pain and preventing movement.

You must be registered for see images

(Bōshi Magen: Kasegui no Jutsu) - Demonic Eye Illusion :Shackling Stakes
Rank: A
Type:Supplementary
Range: Close
Chakra Cost:30
Damage Points: N/A
Description:A Genjutsu technique unique to the Uchiha bloodline Sharingan holders. After activating their Sharingan, the clan member will look into the eyes of their target to bind them with a paralyzing illusion. This illusion takes the form of giant spikes which stake them in place and restrict their movement. A powerful enough ninja will be able to fight the bind to give themselves an opportunity to gain freedom.
Note: Requires Tomo 3 sharingan.

Pretty much an advanced version of Piercing Feathers, you lock eyes and bind them in an illusion where they are bound by giant spikes that pierce them in lock them into place. A ninja of high enough rank (read: higher rank) will be able to fight the binding off and move while the spikes are pierced through them, though to little effect if you cause them to pierce the right places, like joints of the limbs.

The ones I see worthy of comment are:

( Doujutsu: Genjutsu Sharingan ) - Eye Technique: Copy Wheel Eye Illusion
Rank: C - S
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra cost: 15 - 40
Damage points: N/A
Description: This technique is simply the use of generic genjutsu used by members of the Uchiha clan. By simply having their opponents look into their eyes, the Uchiha can lock the user within a genjutsu of their choosing.
Note: Can only be used with 3 tomoe sharingan
To be honest, this would definitely be my most used of the entire list. Of course its no doubt the most versatile of the Sharingan Genjutsu. I guess it was balanced when its range was set to Mid, otherwise it would become quite the pesky technique.

I don't think eye contact is required for this in my opinion, similar to how the Uchiha can attune their eyes to shatter illusions I think this follows in a very similar concept, nevertheless, eye contact for now then.

Easy for stopping an opponent in his tracks no doubt but even more easier countered with the all famous Nagashi and Hardening Technique. Strategic all the same, I can see myself using this.

I've grasped the eye contact side of Sharingan Genjutsu now, its primarily visual trickery with slight details of tactile components. There is yet to be olfactory or gustatory Sharingan Genjutsu but I'm sure that would be no problem for the user's imagination.

The ones I see worthy of comment are:

To be honest, this would definitely be my most used of the entire list. Of course its no doubt the most versatile of the Sharingan Genjutsu. I guess it was balanced when its range was set to Mid, otherwise it would become quite the pesky technique.

The last part of training is one more jutsu.

(Doujutsu: Kopī no Jutsu) - Eye Technique: Copy Technique
Rank: E-S
Type: Supplementary
Range: N/A
Chakra cost: N/A
Damage points: N/A
Description: After gaining the 3 Tomoe Sharingan, the user gains the ability to copy the technique the enemy is using and use it as his own. The user will first need to witness the technique completely to memorize all aspects of it, including the opponents chakra flow and focus upon using it as well as the hand seals. A limitation of the technique is the inability to mimic and copy KG techniques, fuuinjutsu, kinjutsu, genjutsu, medical ninjutsu or hidden clan/bio techniques.
Note: User needs to have 3 Tomoe active
Note: Can only be done 2 times per battle on techniques that have hand seals
Note: Copied technique can only be used in the match its witnessed and only once
Note: User needs to be capable of performing the technique himself, meaning he needs to have the correct chakra natures, rank, abilities, etc to use the technique. This is also valid for elemental specialties, where the user might be unable to copy a technique by only one handseal unless he has the same specialty as the enemy.
Note: Can only be used on techniques up to S-Rank

Fairly straightforward in it's description, this jutsu allows you to use jutsu that your Sharingan sees being performed, as long as you meet the requirements to use it. For example, if you see someone performing Water Dragon, you are able to copy this jutsu perfectly if they perform the full list of hand seals, but if a Water specialist performs it with one seal, you will likely be unable to use it as you may not have the same one seal Water specialty. The user is also unable to copy jutsus for abilities they do not have, such as KGs, Doujutsus, EIG, etc. In most cases, it has very little cannon use as we all know the same cannon jutsu. It counts as a move from your 3 per turn but not as a time frame event. You need to post the technique in the move after the jutsu you want to copy, noting that you copied it. However, once you copied it, you're free to use it during that fight afterwards. The restriction in terms of number of times and the fact that it can't be used outside the battle it was witnessed was to prevent people from copying other peoples cjs and gain them indefinitely which would lead to complaints. This way you can still copy them but you can only use them in that single fight.

Questions?
Hmm, really a nice technique indeed. You've already answered my two possible questions already:

1. Can it copy CJs?
Yes, but only if all the seals are performed. Elemental specialties that don't apply to you can be replicated.

2. Can I use said copy jutsu outside of a fight? Like in an event?
No. Said copied technique is only viable to use inside the fight witnessed. I'm also assuming jutsu restrictions also count, like "Can only be used 2x" and such.

Again, very interesting technique, seeing that it doesn't take time frame I wonder why its so rarely used. Goes to show how few on the Base actually have genuine interest in the Sharingan. Nevertheless, this has definitely been a fun session. And if all goes well and I become a sensei I'd be sure to use your training as my guide. :D
