Ahh the Dōsatsugan, Eye of Insight is the particular side of the Sharingan that allows the user to perceive motion, chakra, and to an extent distance. Although able to see chakra, the Sharingan is inferior to the cognition of a Byuakugan in that it can't see over long distances and when it comes to chakra beyond solid objects the Sharingan cannot properly differentiate, I would imagine a blurry image of the said chakra. For instance, an opponent in the ground up to short ranged of a Sharingan holder can be clearly seen as an outline of chakra, but to mid ranged that outline gradually degrades to a blob, then by long ranged it would be barely distinguishable by a streak or blot of chakra. This is for chakra within dense solids of course. I mean, I don't know for sure but this is my estimate. So it can see through dense objects, but severely handicapped. No need for RP based training lol. I usually reserve that for 1 and 2T. Before we start, let's do a small refresher course to see if you understand the Sharingan so far.
Speaking solely on it's ability to perceive chakra, what are it's limits in relation to matter based obstacles? How does it interact with dense solids? How does it perceive elemental chakra?
You have some parts correct and are a bit iffy on others. First, one should understand the main difference in between the two Doujutsus lies in their usage and the purpose of it. What makes Byakugan unique isn't that the user can see through chakra. It's that it can focus past anything to see this chakra. It has almost no blindspot, and can pinpoint any detail. In essence, Byakugan differs from Sharingan because it is a telescopic vision, and a much more detailed chakra visual capabilities, able to pinpoint the specifics indentations and variations of chakra (though a Byakugan user will be able to explain in more detail of course).Ahh the Dōsatsugan, Eye of Insight is the particular side of the Sharingan that allows the user to perceive motion, chakra, and to an extent distance. Well, you have some knowledge on this but let me explain. The Sharingan is able to differentiate between the different natures based on how these natures characteristics are. It cannot look at, for example, pooling Katon chakra and automatically understand it to be Fire chakra. However, Fire chakra reacts a certain way; it has certain traits that distinguish it from other natures that allow you to determine that it is indeed Katon chakra. Appearing as waves of chakra that have a wavy nature, similar to heat waves that are seen on very hot days, Katon chakra becomes easier to determine. Fuuton chakra appears as if sharp lines/crescents that mirror small blades of chakra, Suiton chakra has a flowing appearance, moving in a push-pull pattern reminiscent to a tide, Doton chakra is dense, and appears rigid, extremely thick while Raiton chakra is as you said, erratic and unpredictable. When comes on to elemental chakra I would imagine the Sharingan sees them in different textures and colors. Textures meaning their appearance rather than actual formation. Wind chakra would be green? And swift looking, like actual wind. Earth chakra should be brown, and abrasive looking, making sharp, blunt movements as its molded in the body or in the environment. Fire, would be red I think, and similar to Wind chakra as it would move with some sort of swelling motion, like hot air. And then Water chakra would be...blue? Smooth looking, calm and collect. And then Lightning gotta be purple, and erratic, sharp, unpredictable movements with jagged edges. This is just guessing as though I never seen it in the anime, Sharingan users such as Sasuke could differentiate chakra flows but I guess they never really explained how.
An example Lili brought up in the past was using fire and glass for instance. Let's assume both are a meter or so thick. Can you see through the thick glass? If so, then a Sharingan user can see it too. Can you see through the fire? The answer is no, so a Sharingan user can't see through either. The bottom line is basically:
Transparent + Chakra = Sharingan Yes, Normal Yes
Transparent, no Chakra = Sharingan Yes, Normal Yes
Opaque + Chakra = Sharingan No, Normal No
Opaque, no Chakra = Sharingan Yes, Normal No
The Byakugan has telescopic sight, and I believe would be able to see through chakra sources, though don't take my word for this; I'm no Byakugan expert xD.Whoa, I definitely learned something here. I only have one major query:
I was always lead to believe that the Sharingan can see through techniques. Now in terms of the fire technique for example, it would only register to the user as a glob of Katon chakra, and he wouldn't be able to see beyond it to its source. Because as you explained the Sharingan lacks microscopic and telescopic sight. But can any Doujutsu see beyond techniques? I'm guessing neither the Byuakugan nor the Rinnegan would be able to see through that fire technique.
I think its all clarified now, especially the seeing chakra part. Thanks for the refresher course. Now that that's on the table, how does the Sharingan see through an illusion? Say I had a 2T which can only pierce through B ranked illusions, and i was placed in an A ranked illusion. The Sharingan can't pierce through it, but would it with its chakra seeing properties be able to tell me I'm in an illusion, I mean we saw Danzo looking at himself when he suspected he was in an illusion.
@first bold: That is correct, more or less. As with all forms of Genjutsu, a medium is required. With most Sharingan Genjutsus, this medium is Visual, requiring the user to be able to cast a genjutsu through eye contact alone, however not all do this. A specific one that doesn't require eye contact would be (Doujutsu: Shiranui) - Eye Technique: Phosphorescent light. This one is triggered by having a line of vision with the target, being able to physically see him.Well Sharingan Genjutsu techniques lie in the visual Genjutsu area, with the occasional tactile options. How it works is by the user sending his chakra into his optic nerves, which are then amplified or toyed with by the Sharingan(s) to then send this chakra into an opponent's brain either through his own eyes, sending your chakra into his head using his optic nerves, or just sending it into his head. This is the basis of eye contact and non eye contact Sharingan techniques.
The abilities related to Genjutsu that the Sharingan posses is the ability to alter sensations and thoughts of the opponent with the use of the user's chakra- as is the rudimentary use of all Genjutsu. But the Sharingan Genjutsu differs in that it is a sentient technique so to call it, able to be changed/altered by the user in a much more unrestrained way than regular Genjutsu. One prime example is Itachi's uncanny way of replicating reality in real time to utmost detail to the point where opponents can't tell reality from illusion. This is just an hypothesis of course, as I'm not too versed on Sharingan Genjutsu. Lastly, I know Sharingan Genjusu can affect, people, clones, and animals with either hypnosis or just illusions. And, quite interestingly, when Itachi had sent Naruto a Genjutsu in the beginning of Shippuden he was able to persist the illusion when Naruto was attempting to Kai out, as Naruto formed the hand seal for Kai Itachi turned his lingering illusion crows into shuriken to stab him all over, using the pain to instill the illusion even longer to the point where Sakura had to release him from the Genjutsu.
To be honest, this would definitely be my most used of the entire list. Of course its no doubt the most versatile of the Sharingan Genjutsu. I guess it was balanced when its range was set to Mid, otherwise it would become quite the pesky technique.( Doujutsu: Genjutsu Sharingan ) - Eye Technique: Copy Wheel Eye Illusion
Rank: C - S
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra cost: 15 - 40
Damage points: N/A
Description: This technique is simply the use of generic genjutsu used by members of the Uchiha clan. By simply having their opponents look into their eyes, the Uchiha can lock the user within a genjutsu of their choosing.
Note: Can only be used with 3 tomoe sharingan
I don't think eye contact is required for this in my opinion, similar to how the Uchiha can attune their eyes to shatter illusions I think this follows in a very similar concept, nevertheless, eye contact for now then.(Bōshi Magen: Kyouten Chiten) - Demonic Eye Illusion: Heaven And Earth Change
Rank:C-S
Range:Short-Long
Chakra Cost: N/A (equal to the cost of the countered technique)
Damage Points:N/A (equal to the power of the countered technique)
Description:This is a illusion counter were, through the use of their sharingan, an Uchiha can take control over an enemy illusionary techniques and reverse it back into the opponent by taking control of it and releasing oneself at the same time. With 1 Tomoe, it can affect C-Rank and below illusions. With 2 Tomoe it can affect B-Rank and bellow illusions. With a 3 Tomoe, it can affect A-Rank and below illusions. With MS/EMS it can affect S-Rank and bellow illusions. Can only be used once every two turns.
Easy for stopping an opponent in his tracks no doubt but even more easier countered with the all famous Nagashi and Hardening Technique. Strategic all the same, I can see myself using this.(Bōshi Magen: Ketataumo ) Demonic Eye Illusion: Piercing Feathers
Rank: B
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Long
Chakra Cost: 30
Damage: N/A
A weaker version of Demonic Illusion: Shackling Stakes, it makes the opponent believe that numerous black feathers have pierced their body and trapped them, causing them pain and immobility.
Note: Requires two tomoe Sharingan and eye contact to use
The last part of training is one more jutsu. The ones I see worthy of comment are:

I've grasped the eye contact side of Sharingan Genjutsu now, its primarily visual trickery with slight details of tactile components. There is yet to be olfactory or gustatory Sharingan Genjutsu but I'm sure that would be no problem for the user's imagination.
Hmm, really a nice technique indeed. You've already answered my two possible questions already:The last part of training is one more jutsu.
(Doujutsu: Kopī no Jutsu) - Eye Technique: Copy Technique
Rank: E-S
Type: Supplementary
Range: N/A
Chakra cost: N/A
Damage points: N/A
Description: After gaining the 3 Tomoe Sharingan, the user gains the ability to copy the technique the enemy is using and use it as his own. The user will first need to witness the technique completely to memorize all aspects of it, including the opponents chakra flow and focus upon using it as well as the hand seals. A limitation of the technique is the inability to mimic and copy KG techniques, fuuinjutsu, kinjutsu, genjutsu, medical ninjutsu or hidden clan/bio techniques.
Note: User needs to have 3 Tomoe active
Note: Can only be done 2 times per battle on techniques that have hand seals
Note: Copied technique can only be used in the match its witnessed and only once
Note: User needs to be capable of performing the technique himself, meaning he needs to have the correct chakra natures, rank, abilities, etc to use the technique. This is also valid for elemental specialties, where the user might be unable to copy a technique by only one handseal unless he has the same specialty as the enemy.
Note: Can only be used on techniques up to S-Rank
Fairly straightforward in it's description, this jutsu allows you to use jutsu that your Sharingan sees being performed, as long as you meet the requirements to use it. For example, if you see someone performing Water Dragon, you are able to copy this jutsu perfectly if they perform the full list of hand seals, but if a Water specialist performs it with one seal, you will likely be unable to use it as you may not have the same one seal Water specialty. The user is also unable to copy jutsus for abilities they do not have, such as KGs, Doujutsus, EIG, etc. In most cases, it has very little cannon use as we all know the same cannon jutsu. It counts as a move from your 3 per turn but not as a time frame event. You need to post the technique in the move after the jutsu you want to copy, noting that you copied it. However, once you copied it, you're free to use it during that fight afterwards. The restriction in terms of number of times and the fact that it can't be used outside the battle it was witnessed was to prevent people from copying other peoples cjs and gain them indefinitely which would lead to complaints. This way you can still copy them but you can only use them in that single fight.
Questions?
Thanks for the protipLol, I try to make it as knowledgeable as possible while not just being the generic "I attack, you counter, I hide, you find me, etc" routine xD
