Wouldn't the black flames prevet an Edo from recovering, and more importantly... No doubt the reason behind NOT usig them against Edo's is because said Edo's would become walking black flames against the user and or others around...

I'm thinking they would burn until they've consumed the whole body, then they'd extinguish. But then afterwards, the body would regenerate. In other words, amaterasu would be useless against an edo.
