Stages of Sharingan
'Eye of Insight' is an ability which grants user ability to see chakra flow, as sharingan itself gives color to the chakra. It also grants user an incredible clarity of perception, to recognize genjutsu, although it is inferior to Byakugan, in this ability.
It allows user to copy movements of his opponents or predict the next move of opponent from opponent's muscle tension and provides an effect way to dodge it, without wasting single movement.User of Sharingan can copy ninjutsu, genjutsu and taijutsu, but can't copy kekkai genkai.

As I said earlier, sharingan wielder can break genjutsu and can tell whether he is under genjutsu. Sharingan also grants user 'hypnotic ability', using which user can hypnotize and control his opponent's movements.With higher degree of excellence in this ability one can even control tailed beasts and big summons like Manda.
As with other genjutsu, genjutsu cast by the Sharingan are capable of putting an opponent to sleep, inducing paralysis, replaying memories to someone else via genjutsu, or creating various illusions to deceive someone or torture the person. The potency of the Sharingan's illusion is dependent on the user's knowledge and skill with implementing genjutsu. Although the Sharingan consumes the user's chakra while active, the amount of chakra that the user must exert is so insignificant that they can keep it active constantly.

One tomoe sharingan as the name indicates contains one tomeo, but it is very basic and obvious statement about it.One tomeo sharingan basically is the most basic type of sharingan one can get, it serves as a base for higher versions such as two tomeo, three tomeo etc. It actually has two main abilities, one being hypnotism and other one being eye of insight. First one can be used to hypnotize your opponent or put him in genjutsu, while second one is used to see the chakra flow of opponent. Second ability can also be used to determine if user is under genjutsu or not, by examining irregular chakra flow. Sharingan's third ability is copying opponent's technique, which can be achieved, once user gains more tomeos in his eyes.First ability can activate genjutsu using mere eye contact, and hence is pretty much useful and OP.
In addition to this three basic abilities, Sharingan can be used for advanced techniques, Izanami and Izanagi, but these techniques may lead to complete blindness.

Nice though your reply is a bit undetailed.
however, With one tomoe, you don't only read handseals and see chakra flow,
-You are able to see chakra and percieve motion, track speed (1.5x speed though), react to Taijutsu and Ninjutsu move fairly better than normal person, also you are able to see through D-Rank visual genjutsu.
-for now though, you need to spend a move to activate the one tomoe in battle after you awakened it.
Now to awaken your sharingan it requires you to go through series of emotional situations. Though I'll just have to beat it into you.

While you are talking, Priest gives you a resounding slap on your right cheek that makes you temporarily deaf and sends you flying towards your left hand side while you ram against a pillar with your right shoulder with possible dislocation.

As Itachi receives a slap from Priest which sends him flying, he looks back at Priest sensei and his eyes, and notices that his sensei's eyes are full of intent of beating him up. ' I know I am weak, and that's why I hate myself, I want to protect Konoha, and for that I need power, I don't care if I have to take hard path for it', a rise of despair and hatred can be clearly seen in Itachi's eyes as he feels sad for the fact he isn't strong. 'I want power, and I will become powerful no matter what!!!'

Intent to be confused with a genjutsu,
despite not being a genjutsu at all; simply a
showcase of intention and power. The target
will feel as if facing an overwhelming enemy
and, even if not a sensor, will suddenly feel the pressure of the users chakra and its
magnitude, making the effect that much
more dramatic. To effectively be used, the
user needs to focus on his target and
concentrate on the killing intent towards it,
meaning that one must see the target and be focused on it. The strength of the Killing
Intent is dependent on many factors and go
through several levels. If a difference in
rank smaller than 2 ranks exist, the enemy
will feel only the pressure and the ominous
presence of their dark intentions. Its enough to lose your grasp on a weapon or

The little kick would cause enough pain to snap you out of the killing intent but you are still shaken up badly that its still difficult moving.
I decided not to talk again but my expresion brings nothing less than "I want to end this" as I bring our a kunai, strapped under it is a thin cord the I hurl it away while kicking you as you fly the kunai passes beside you , i quickly flick my fingers so that the kunai changes path and while encircling you in a mesmerising fashion making the strings entangle around you(your hands binding them) then the kunai continue in its course pining you into a tree with your hands raised, palms overlapping on each other while the kunai lodges into your palms and into the tree.

When it gets to you hand, it burns it up to the shoulder then I drowse it before it goes further lower by slaming my hands on the ground summoning a large amount of water from above you.

'I can't die here, I have to return to Konoha, help hokage and ya become a good ninja, for which I have to get that 'mirror wheel eye, at any cost', Itachi tired and weakened, is now completely engulfed in the darkness and hatred.
