Hmm its alright I didn't like the blending in some parts maybe you could of used a different smudge brush mmm Idk anything other than that it blends with the fire part tho.

If you consider that I have no brushes atm and only used a hard brush, I think I did quiet well xD

it weird it dosen't go with the flow it has little flow but the smudges should come toward the render this vid can help you on your smudge for Photoshop and flow​

What I noticed is that videos weren't helping me at all, so I thought lets try it on my own.
But the tutorial you provided looks indeed very nice, maybe I'll give it another go on a smudge using this video ^^
