U have no proof other than Hype from manga & Iam usng the same hype to support my argument in case of Grap & WB..
Manga clearly stated that WB is the strongest man during the time of war ...
Roger said that they nearly killed eachother countless times means that nither of them won in any of thire battles & yet Roger is the strongest character in the series .....same logic goes for Shanks & Hawk Eyes
No we haven't seen shanks and mihawk fight each othee but we do know they fought with each other when Shanks had both arms and still there was no winner,, i.e; they were equals.
Feat from Shanks: Both he and WB clashed at nearly full power.
From Mihawk: cut down a mountain sized Ice berg (made by aokiji, not normal ice), he did that and it seemed like he didn't even put much effort when he did that.
Supports the thing about them being equal.
And no, manga does not states that WB was the strongest man during the war, he was called that even before the war, from the times of Roger.
Garp's one punch left a mark on the first division commander of WB pirates, 'the pheonix', something which even akainu couldn't do. Garp was clearly as strong as (okay nearly for you) WB in the war, that's a different case that he didn't fought much in the war.
It is clearly stated that Garp and Roger nearly killed each other several times,, even after reading that why do you still consider Roger above garp? Cuz Hype.
