Shanks = Jiraiya ?!

I've been watching One Piece a lot lately and one character has definitly caught my attention,

And that's Red-Haired Shanks.

I like his relationship with Luffy. It reminded me of Jiraiya's relationship with Naruto

My theory is Shanks will pull a Jiraiya,
They're such cool and hyped characters, who's never been seen in battle; with beef with the main bad guy

I think Shanks will finally go all out in an amazing battle with Blackbeard and the tides will turn somehow to him dying in an epic way so he can entrust beating Blackbeard and becoming Pirate King to Luffy.

Some may not like it if it mirrors Naruto so closely, but personally I wouldn't mind it happening this way!!

Their relationship is really similar, so yeah. The only thing I have to say is that Shanks already entrusted Luffy to be the King, but you might be right about leaving Blackbeard to him. I hope Shanks doesn't die, he's too badass.

Me either haha! I just watched the Whitebeard war and couldn't help but think there was foreshadowing to Shanks V BB.

That's be very cool.. I'd like seeing it. But then again I wouldn't. Shanks dying to black beard would piss me off so much. Black Beard pisses me off in general. And Shanks is one of the 4 emperors, so I don't think he'd lose. But then again Jiraiya was a Sannin. So anything is possible I guess U_U But Pain wasn't ... a "hated" character. Teach, imo, is just utterly despicable.

But... It's be cool. Cause Luffy would want to pounce his face so hard. And Luffy would destroy him. Although, I wouldn't want Shanks dying!!! ... So I can't really decide, lmao.

Jiraiya was naruto his sensei, Shanks is more like a childhood idol or hero for Luffy

While both have had a huge impact on both MC , Shanks his involvement was very limited to non existent in Luffy his "growing up" period
It's true jiraiya also appeared later on in naruto his life only but he trained with him for 2 years and before that made several trips with him and taught him many stuff
So compared to that Shanks only knew Luffy for a short time, he came on the Island , saved his Life and went back on his journey, so he basically only met him once.
