Not sure how long you have been GFXing but I suggest reading up on some tuts and following them, rendering is terrible background is shocking has no blending and no depth, sorry if this seems a little harsh but thats the only way your going to improve =]

It's not really good, but I do like how you added the flare to the tip of the sword. That shows that your'e thinking like a GFX'er. Read up on some tutorials and practice the techniques

It's nice, but work on rendering a picture, because the white edge around the character is the only thing which seriously needs to be worked on.

pretty much the same thing he said and i use gimp as well not all the time but you'll get use to using it, suggest taking it slow first with one step at a time, basic sigs then intermideate then advanced.

Follow tutorials to learn some things and then get creative!
My first sig was like that, then i got better with basic tutorial! Keep it up!
