I watched the anime as a kid and I would say its roughly equal to Naruto part 1. Recently I read through the manga and I can honestly say the Manga is much better.
The anime skips about 150 chapters of content with its own differentiated ending.
If you like Manga packed with nothing but fighting then this is the manga for you. 300 chapters. It starts off very slow. But if you get to the battle between Tao Ren and Asakura Yoh ( the second one) then it will only get better and remain consistent in quality.
Warning: Because of the powers used in the series the mangaka could make a lot of ass pulls.
Brief overview:
Shaman King (シャーマンキング Shāman Kingu?) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hiroyuki Takei. Shaman King follows the adventures of Yoh Asakura as he attempts to hone his shaman skills to become Shaman King in the Shaman tournament. Hiroyuki Takei chose shamanism as the main theme as he wanted to choose a topic that has never been done before.
Because the series is so unique it always kept me intrigued and kept me wanting to read more. I would say it is one of the most underrated manga out there. ( It has the most badass primary antagonist too)
For those whom are fans already ( highly doubt any of you are ) would you be interested in a Shaman King RP?
