shadow clones

ok there are two things i want to know although the second one is kind of pointless. First of all do shadow clones have a distance limit and second, what is the relation between shadow clones and actual shadows. It seems pointless to call them shadow clones if they have nothing to do with shadows which is why i think it would be cool if it was the nara clans jutsu and they were made of actual shadows.

1) No there is no set distance or time that a Shadow Clone can travel since it is an exact duplicate of the caster, with a mind of it's own. It is a clone in every aspect with every quality of the original (exept the fact that it goes 'poof' when it dies xd)

2) Probably because it is a true physical replica it will cast it's own shadow like a normal human, whereas a illusion based clone wouldn't.

no i think its called shadow clone because its like a replica of yourself like a shadow.
