shading in gimp

so i colored a pic a friend made and i wanted to shade it, now i want to know is there any other way to shade it besides using the airbrush?

Depends on what kind of colouring u want to have.

For anime/manga style use magic lasso selection and colour the parts dark (layer shading)

For realistic shading use the light brushes or soft brushes
