out of almost EVERYONES flashbacks. guy's was the shortest. and as for someone who isnt too fond of the flashbacks always cutting in on the action. im a little disappointed.

Young grasshopper, the flashback got the point across, it showed us Gai's dad, how he learned the eight gates.
It also showed us where Gai got his ambition and ideals from. We go to see his dad protect them with the eight gates.

It was long enough, and like I said, got the point across nicely, couldn't ask for a better filler.

Gai's flashback was one of the better one's since we didn't see stuff we already knew like with Minato's and Obito's.
