Itachi being the smartest guy in NV, what would he do when facing Madara?
itachi is a useless idiot. what woild he do? stand there, do nothing for 10 years and wait for someoen else to do all the work. in other words same thing he always does. and kill a few kids while hes waiting.
He would either tank his attacks with the bird-genjutsu on its basic form, use Izanami, or simply seal him with Totsuka Sword.
bird genjutsu is broken instnatly. izanami is useless as itachi would be killed before then, and totsuka is casually dodged
Remember that Itachi is MUCH better and stronger than Sasuke, so there's a good chance he would be able to defeat Madara.
itachi is inferior to sasuke in every possible way and would get easily butchered by sasuke and instantly cut in half by madara
Not to mention Itachi always finds the weaknesses in everyone.

Itachi would definitely be more formidable than sasuke as far as finding Maddy's weakness.
not realy as itachi never "finds weaknesses". sasuke is far more of a tactical fighting genius and focuses on using his opponents against themselves. itachi spams hax and hopes it will work

and yet has never done this or behaved in such a way in the manga. i really think your just lying here and painting itachi as someone hes not. he doesnt just hang back. he LITERALLY does nothing and sits around letting dangeorus villains destroy everyone. and he doesnt coordinate. remember alive itachis personality was al about spurning comrades in favour of his own arrogant self.
He would do everything Sasuke has done, but with a plan and backup support from a select team.
sasuke is smarter and much better in a team so how did you come up with that nonfiction? and itachi never has a plan beyond "sit there and let millions of people get butchered". and he never would want help
probably go with the rest of the kage and formulate a plan and lead a plan that would enable them to finish Madara off.
so in other words not be itachi? itachis style isnt plans and gathering intel. his style is cowardly sitting there and letting terrorists massacre thousands and do nothing to help them
