On a serious note, how strong is black zetsu alone?

I'm sure I grasped the full concept of white and spiral zetsu but the black one never came to my full understanding.

From what I know black zetsu can control people's body and use their powers.

I feel like there is more info on him...

He has tis unsettling connection to black rods and truth seeking orbs/rikudou staff
