This is a discussion about Sephiroth and Final Fantasy in general
Warning this thread is just a jumble of my opinions and doesn't really have a single direction
I am a gigantic Final Fantasy fan.
I've played/finished
FFVI
FFVII
FFVIII
FFX
So far my favorite character and villian is Sephiroth (of the FF games)
also so far my favorite FF game is FFVII
for every 1000 people that love FFVII there are 999 people that absolutely despise it.
The reason this is (I believe) is that FFVII is overrated.
It is however undeniably great and the intense hate for it is a bit ridiculous.
Sephiroth is the same way. There are lots of people who like Sephiroth
and a tiny bit less who hate him, simply in spite that FFVII is unfairly called the best of the best (it could be but it's not "the best game ever" as some people claim)
I personally like Sephiroth for how effortlessly he seems to fight, how much he holds back, how he never seems worried and is always calm and collected,
Its almost like his defeats are all going towards his ultimate plan and he's so calm, it's almost, like he can't lose.
Another reason why Sephiroth is my favorite FF character is that he is extremely powerful xd
Is he the most powerful FF character?
Probably not although it is possible, but no one can say just how powerful he is,
Sephiroth's power is unkown... this works as a double edged sword, those that hate FFVII say he's the weakest FF villian(a lot of the time)...
a baseless assumption, and those that overrate FFVII too much, say he's without a doubt the most powerful....another baseless assumption just as ridiculous as saying he's for certain the weakest.
As I've said, Sephiroths power is unkown,
-he hardly makes any appearances in FFVII and when you do fight him as the final boss, it's 8 on 1 (if you got Vincent and Yuffie) and you have to use tools to give you a advantage over him (holy)
- In the KH's games he's highly nerfed and a highly waterd down version of himself. (plus in 2 and likely 1 he seems to not even try and is just testing Sora)
-In Dissidia he seems to be put in a special place and is respected by many villians,
also to note it's a fighting game so it's not a clear judge of his strength
-In Advent Children he wasn't trying
So when people say Sephiroth isn't that strong or is the weakest FF villian, I say this is a baseless statement and it's possible he's even the strongest
(don't know if he is nor do I care if he is or not)
every final fantasy game is different with the villians all having different goals and different means to complete these highly different goals, It makes sense to compare the Villians and Characters but its extremely hard.
P.S. My second favorite villain is Kefka!
