Prologue
The blurred image of a city pops back in view once more. The red circle is flashing once again. The camera image begins to jerk around until the picture comes into focus. The muffled sound suddenly becomes clear.
“Ah, Finally!” The picture is clear, and the camera is now level with the ground.
“Welcome to the wonderful world of Seoul!....What am I, Disney now? Ahem, welcome to Seoul where the wonderful mountains kiss the skies of wonder. No that’s too poetic for no reason. Yo, Yo punks welcome to my citay, alright that was just wrong. Wait, I got it! AHEM, this is Seoul, the jewel of South Korea. You’d have to live here to understand, so why don’t I just shut up and show you for yourself!”
The camera suddenly jerks and begins displaying the moving city. It quickly pans to the left displaying a busy restaurant. It then zooms in to reveal a smaller restaurant that lies next to it.
“Big corporations stealing your business again? Keep up the good fight." The camera zooms in even further to reveal a single person reading the newspaper
inside the small restaurant. The face cannot be seen, but it appears to be an older individual. “Oh, what’s this? A customer? Well I suppose I should have known that you’d be there.”
The scene pans toward the sky to display a plane soaring through the clouds. It then turns 180 degrees to reveal a couple of boys rolling dice on a street corner. The camera zooms in on a third boy with blonde hair, who is much taller than the others. He seems tobe looking at the sky, and is completely removed from his two gambling friends. Suddenly, a strange costumed man wearing a super hero themed suit interrupts the scene and places his head in front of the camera. He begins shouting gibberish as a struggle for the camera takes place that causes the scene to become shaky. The camera falls down revealing the costumed hero sprinting away through the streets of Seoul. The camera is seemingly levitated off the ground, and is back on level with the surface. “What was that guy thinking? He didn’t even introduce himself!”
This scene takes us through the different parts of the city. Numerous cars and people pass by as they continue with their normal lives. The camera becomes fixated on a single red haired woman standing outside a large hotel. She continues to look at her watch as she taps her foot impatiently.
“Oooh, someone’s going to be late. Why not pass the time with the refreshing test of PEPSI!” The camera immediately pans to a billboard that has a local celebrity advertising the drink. “That joke was bad wasn’t it? Oh well, moving on!”
The scene switches yet again. This time the setting is now a police station. A young man wearing a suit and tie begins to walk up the stairs into the building. He appears to be very nervous, but determined at the same time. In a few seconds two cops walk out of the building chuckling silently to themselves. This was most likely a joke that was told before they walked out, and probably had nothing to do with the young man…probably. The two older men hopped into a squad car and sped off. “I better not jay walk. I don’t want to have THAT on my record. HEY TAXI! TAXI! OH, WELL SCREW YOU TOO MAN!” The taxi speeds off and is sideswiped by a limousine from the right. The damage does not seem to be critical, and both parties get out of their vehicles. The camera zooms in on the taxi guy who seems to be sweating buckets through his white T-shirt. The well-dressed man appears to be calm. The rich one reaches into his suit jacket and pulls out what appears to be a checkbook. While that transaction is taking place the camera zooms in on the limousine. A random man sprints across the street, and the camera briefly follows this man before panning back to the limo. A window is now open, and it reveals a dark haired girl with a sad look on her face. The camera turns about 90 degrees to view a hospital. It zooms in to a single window until a young man can be seen from a distance. The camera zooms in even further to reveal a man who is smiling. He is seemingly staring directly into the camera, but it would be impossible for him to see it from here. The scene captures this moment for a few seconds before it pans around once more as the scene takes us through a dark alley. “Irony would be a funny god wouldn’t it?”
Suddenly the super hero enters the scene. Slowly creeping up from the left corner of the screen, he suddenly throws the piece sign and then the camera violently jerks as it is now only filming the moving ground. In the background you can hear someone shouting “NOT YOU AGAIN! GIVE THAT BACK YOU TROUBLE MAKER!”
The scene cuts off and is replaced by a completely worn and abandoned area. Broken gates, and caution tape can be seen throughout. The camera is set down without little regard to what image it is producing as the ground runs across the side of the screen, and from this angle one can see rusted railroad tracks. “That guy…is weird…but I like him. Phew, anyway, you’re probably wondering who I am. I often wonder that too. What, you thought I would tell you? Surprises are only fun when you aren’t expecting it, or maybe you knew what they were all along? For now, you can just call me the cameraman, cameragirl, or cameraplant. It doesn’t really matter who I am. What matters is who they are, and who you are, and what it is. After all, I can’t film yesterday, or tomorrow. Man, I have absolutely no idea where I am, but then again that’s probably for the best. Hopefully you too, become lost in these streets. We’ll be waiting for-“
