''For thousands of generations you humani have deliberately distanced yourselves from what you laughingly call magic. But magic is really only the utilization of the entire spectrum of the senses. The humani have cut themselves off from their senses. Now they see only in a tiny portion of the visible spectrum, hear only the loudest of sounds, their sense of smell is shockingly poor and they can only distinguish the sweetest and sourest of tastes.''

''What you call magic is nothing more than a act of the imagination fired by the senses, then given shape by the power of your aura.''

I got this from a fantasy book so no need to take it seriously. Anywho, one of the main characters got her senses ''awakened'' and suffered greatly due to it. She heard her own blood run through her veins, her heart pump all of the blood through her body and felt every flow and turn, experiencing a new sense of self awareness..or oneness, if you must. She heard people talk from far distances, saw colors so bright and lively, smelled things so strongly it made her want to puke at times. A gentle tap on her shoulder was like someone slapped her on the back with a flat hand while she was fast asleep. This character, after barely being able to talk for a few hours, concluded that although it was devastatingly tiresome to experience all her senses enhanced, she never felt alive as she did after the awakening.

I kind of experienced the vision part while tripping on psychedelic mushrooms. I remember walking outside with a friend and I spotted 2 ants on the ground a few meters ahead of me. All colors seemed so vibrant and lively and little sounds would not drift by your mind like a fog but you'd be focussed on it altogether and experience reality feeling more..alive.

My main point for this thread is that feeling of aliveness. In our prison planet world, the only adventure left is to destroy that society which is almost impossible so we keep our minds distracted. Imagine having your 5 (or 6) senses enhanced and experiencing life completely differently. More in tune maybe.

Have any of you experienced weird euphoric moments in which your only answer to it was that you felt so alive and present? Is the saying ''wake up'' not only meant to enlighten people intellectually, but also spiritually?

That's kind of disturbing, but it's one of those "careful what you wish for" lessons. I for one am always seeking a great perhaps or something that is beyond my usual scope of senses. Now I'm not sure I should be.

I've definitely experienced moments of heightened awareness, but I can't always explain why or how.

This is kind of actually why I wanna try LSD at least once in my life. The trip and the experience as have been described to me sounds...magical. I think one of the best things in this world to possibly experience would be seeing a new color or hearing a new sound. A trip like LSD gives is probably the closest I'll ever get. It's amazing when you stop to consider how little we as humans can actually pick up with our senses. There's a fish out there who can pick up vast amount more colors than us, and I'm jealous.

That's the mantis shrimp. Humans have 3 photoreceptors that make up our whole color spectrum. Mantis shrimp have 16.

Personally I don't find this as an appeal to drugs. If one were to experience a short moment of heightened senses, and found it pleasing, leaving the high would be unfavorable. I'd rather work to make a more permanent sense of awareness that doesn't drain any money. Like through meditation or self-reflection. Maybe even through art.

This happens always when i find someone interesting ( yeah ! those interesting girls lol ) and all senses begins to notice everything about them even the sixth sense works well, predicting what they gonna do next and noticing things about them that they may not known themselves ( it's bit out of this world but yeah ! this is the only way i can explain it ) .

I did psychedelic truffles 4 times and DMT once. DMT is outerworldly. If I let myself completely go I literally saw my vision change drastically with weird geometrical patterns and bright, vibrant colors. I did not feel my body whatsoever and I did not notice or feel that my body was breathing. It's really..really intense. Psychedelic truffles are ok. Friend of mine who knows jackshit about astral projection and all those other weird phenomena told me the reason why he started screaming for my mum at 4am was that he drifted away too deep into the trip and floated around the ceiling looking down on his body. I laughed so hard because I'm already familiar with internal travel and I just spoke to my mum normally while tripping on the strongest psychedelic truffle kind.
It enhances the color and depth of your visible spectrum. It also makes you think outerworldly things.

I know about this woman who's a paint artist and she has a wider color spectrum than most humans. I forgot her name and the term of that phenomena. Her paintings are 'wow' though.

Anywho, try meditating in front of a mirror. I cannot even properly explain the things I've seen by doing just that. Meditate with eyes open in front of a mirror focusing on your forehead.

I do believe in this though, the whole concept of magic is actually subliminal training to make for a better world. Creating fire from your thoughts, the symbolism is real.

Yeah.. One part of it is that when you actually study magick, may it be legitimate ot not, it guides you towards a journey, internally. That book which I cited my post from explains magic arts and alchemy and it seems so in tune with nature and the divine source inside of us. Modern day society just keeps us distracted as to not have us realize we're living in invisible cages and organized religions pretty much preach the opposite of the above mentioned.

There is something i believe...kinda odd but it might have been said by someone else before.

There are levels of things we can percieve. The sounds we can hear, the colors we can see are pretty much determined. But we can alter those things, like if you listen to something louder than the person next to you you stop hearing him. Or if you focus a single thing in front of you the color of surroundings will not be percieved. When you wake up you can barely hear/understand what the person next to you says. When you are about to pass out everything seem to look differnt (i see everything in an orangle like color). Or sometimes when you are in the class it is as if the teacher is not telling something meaningful at all because you are not listening. I stepped on mussel shell and did not feel something more than an itch from that half cm deep scar until i looked at it. Same scar but it feels different depending on whether i have seen it or not.

There are levels of conciousness. You can not be at the same stagnant conciousness state all the time, prime example would be difference between sleeping and being awake. Sometimes our brain work differently. Sensory overload can happen in those states, or maybe the complete opposite because i had moments in which i could barely hear like my sense of hearing is blocked. That's why drugs make people see things they usually can not, while in that state they are unaware of their usual surroundings like the way they generally percieve.

Well said. Sensory deprevation also helps by shutting down all senses but one as to focus completely on that particular sense, enhancing it. When meditating with eyes open but eyelids lazed, focusing on your peripheral vision sometimes makes the light in the room (or outside) literally dim. Some guy on nb I spoke to years ago wanted to try out seeing auras and he told me it was like the light dimmed and the outlining of his hand started glowing.

That's actually what I now subconsciously do when I see the electro magnetic field surrounding people and trees and such. I alter my state of awareness.

Exactly, it is about chemistry of our body. It gets to be effected by psychcological effects or things like drugs which directly meddle with chemistry. A prime example would be painkillers (more of an everyday example compared to LSD) which litterally chages the way we sense the pain.

That guy could saw auras of people? That's amazing. I never tried to do so, all i could in a similar vein was dreaming awake by making my own constructions and i could only do that by minimizing my senses, sadly i could only fully control my sight ability oddly enough the places i constructed were fully based on visuals, no sense of touching or hearing a voice.

How can you alter your state of awareness? I used to focus on a certain thing(s) but then i got complaints from the people around me due to ignoring them.

Did you read "Doors of Perception" by Aldous Huxley? If not i think you might be interested in it. It is about psychedelia, though i just started it and can't give a better definition about book.

Sorry for the late reply.

Well, so he says ._. I gave him a quick introduction of seeing energy and how to achieve it by practice. He was hyped when it worked and his explanation of what he saw correlates with any other person that talks about it. I know about 2 people in real that are also capable of seeing auras. Friends tried it without succes and got either disappointed or shrugged it off as bs' (which is understandable)

Ash..daydreams can be interesting if you practice directing your intention and taking control of what you visualize.
Try this; follow a route with some scenery you make up yourself and focus on the details of the surroundings, then take a turn to right or left which will either disturb the manifestation of your surroundings or maintain it from another angle. The latter is the goal. You can also try this when lucid dreaming. The sensation is interesting.

And Aldous Huxley sounds very familiar but I can't think of anything relating to him right now :x
