Sennin Mode Minato? Chapter 665

Seems like it was just thrown out of no where without a story or background to follow it still.
Also it seems he's a toad sage and a mastered one at that as he didn't undergo a transformation.

Personally I found it to be an asspull. I base this on the grounds that minato didn't help naruto aassault juubito with sennin attacks once naruto deduced that only sage mode attacks would harm him. All of kishis flashbacks and explanations can't answer why minato would hold back when the world is at stake

Jiraiya was capable of having an incomplete sage mode and can use it in a fight while minato had a perfect sage mode but can't use in in a fight
Naruto surpassed them both by doing perfect sage mode and capable of using it in battle
