Senjutsu represents the perfect combination of spiritual, physical, and natural energy within a shinobi's body.

Senjutsu represents the perfect combination of spiritual, physical, and natural energy within a shinobi's body. It is obtained by a user who has undergone specialized training allowing them to sense and gather the natural energy around them. Once the natural energy mixes with the chakra inside a shinobi's body it undergoes an empowered change called Sage Mode. In Sage Mode, a shinobi's strength and jutsu prowess increases dramatically giving them abilities and power past the bar of a normal ninja. There are a select few who have mastered the technique for gathering natural energy, and those select few are known as Sages.

One of the elder leaders of the Toads of Myobokuzan, Fukasaku (also known as Pa) is a small toad (somewhat in contrast with the fact that he's older and more powerful than the gigantic Gamabunta) who serves as the main teacher of Sage techniques to Naruto and Jiraya. Possessing a keen intellect, he is a master strategist and an experienced fighter. Shima (also known as Ma) is his wife and acts as his battle partner but also one of the elder leaders in the clan as well. Capable and powerful, Shima matches Fukasaku's battle prowess and share most of his abilities. Both are capable of using Frog Katas and gathering natural energy to temporarily boost their physical strength (if they aren't merged with the user). Both can perform ninjutsu and use Senjutsu Techniques and while Fukasaku can use up to S-Rank Water and Wind techniques, Shima can use up to S-Rank Fire and Wind techniques. Both can use oil techniques, a trait shared amongst most Toads, and some unique techniques known only to toads. Ma and Pa are the only toads that can merge with the user to gather natural energy and transfer it to him, enabling the user to keep sage mode active as long as the Amphibian Mode is kept. The user can summon one or the other, once per battle for each. However, if the user wants to summon both in the same battle, he needs to gather chakra for one turn before they are summoned (the user does the summoning technique and waits one turn for the summoning to be complete, keeping his hands together as he gathers enough chakra to perform the summon). They seem to be constantly infused with natural energy or their sage mode is incredibly durable though they haven't shown the same type of sensory awareness as ninja sage mode users.

Ma! Pa! It's nice to meet you both. My name is Ieyasu Tokugawa and I would like learn your methods of gathering natural energy, so please, teach me the art of Sage Mode! ^_^

Ma: We'll have to take you back to Myobokuzan before we can start your training.
Pa: All right Ieyasu-boy, get ready for the reverse summoning.

 

[ZandaT]

As the sound of acceptance passed through the toads lips, Ieyasu cringed in the sudden shock of excitement surged through his body as his mind explored. What will this training be like? How will this new energy feel? And will I really be able to control it? His rush of excitement quickly died down as that last question ran through his mind. With a sudden upwards slight jerk of his head, an assuring smirk came on his face as he answered his own mental question. "Hmph, I'll do more than control senjutsu, i'll completely master Sage Mode. He then turn to the two elder toads as Fukasaku got ready for the reverse summoning.

Alright, now go stand beneath that waterfall. It consists of special oils. Tell me if you can feel the natural energy around you.

With the completion of the reverse summoning jutsu Ieyasu found himself in the midst of the beautiful Mt.Myōboku. He followed Ma and Pa through the land as he gazed at the larger than life landscape as he thought of the richness of this mountain realizing why it was such a key spot to learning how to control natural energy. They soon came across a waterfall and Ieyasu was instructed to stand beneath it and see if he could feel the natural energy as he is bathed in the special oil enriched water. He was so excited that he didn't mind getting wet, so he made his way underneath the cascading water before closing his eyes. As he stood still he began to feel the abundance of natural energy around him. It felt pure and warm like a burning ember of fire safe to touch by human hands. Ieyasu smiled as he felt the natural energy around him. It's so warm.

Now that oil will help you bring natural energy into your body. Give it a try. Remember to balance your physical and spiritual energies with that natural energy.

 

[ZandaT]

Hearing the toad's instruction I take in a deep breath while I remain completely still. I allow the natural energy around me to be absorbed into my body while trying to maintain a three-way balance with my physical and spiritual energy. With my eyes closed I could feel the power surge through my body, but I hid any expression as I keep a solid concentration. How is this?

 

[Crutch Kaguya]

-you begin turning into a frog-
-Pa smacks you in the head with his cane-

Pa: If you don't balance the energies evenly you'll turn into a frog statue... FOREVER!

 

[ZandaT]

Ouch! Ieyasu rubs his head after the toad cane sucks out all of the natural energy within his body as it struck him. He then sits down into a meditative stance as he closes his eyes absorbing the natural energy around him once again. Without saying a word he keeps his total focus on getting the correct ratio of natural, physical, and spiritual energy within his body.

-you enter Sage Mode-

Good, now exit Sage Mode, and come out of the oil. See how it feels when you try to enter Sage Mode without it, tell me what the differences are.

As I open my eyes I pause as I sense the world around me. I could feel the wars between villages taking place and the loss of life that comes with it. I could also feel the various toads on Mt.Myōboku, some I was familiar with and others not so much. I then exit Sage mode before relocating from underneath the oil infused waterfall to a spot on the dry ground of the mountain. I once again take a meditative sitting position before trying to feel the natural energy around me. Mhmmm, this is weird. Trying to feel the natural energy around me is a little harder ever since I left the waterfall. The amount of natural energy isn't as big neither.It might take me a little while longer to enter Sage Mode now. After analyzing the difference of gathering natural energy without the aid of the waterfall Ieyasu silently focuses all of his attention towards gathering and combining the natural energy around him as he combines it with the two other energies present within his body. He keeps his concentration for awhile as he sat perfectly still.

-I throw an earth spear at you-

Okay, now before we start the techniques, tell me how you feel different. What has changed in your body?

Ieyasu gets up from his sitting position as the earth spear is thrown towards him. After getting up he pulls his fist backwards before punching the large stone breaking it into many pieces. Well for starters this new boost in my body strength feels really good. Also, with the new nature energy dwelling in synchronization with the other energies they seemed to have merged into a new chakra causing these orange marking on my eye lids. This must be senjutsu chakra. He says as he stares into the base of the nearby waterfall.

Damage points: After performing one hand seal Shima will focus Senjutsu to her tongue making it grow to its maximum limit and has been reshaped with a face. The tongue will then seek out the scent of its target. When the target is found, she ensnares the target to prevent it from escaping and then marks it with a corrosive chemical.
Note: Can only be used by Shima.

This technique simply focuses Sage energy to her tongue then wraps it around the opponent to melt them with corrosives.


(Senpo: Futon Sunabokori) – Sage Art: Wind Release Dust Cloud

Description: Shima spits out a massive cloud of dust from her mouth. The dust cloud is thick enough that it is capable of blocking the targets vision completely. The dust cloud is large enough to hide a large summon like Gamabunta.
Note: Can only be used by Shima.

Just a Sage version of Dust Cloud.


(Senpō: Zessenzan) – Sage Art: Fighting Tongue Slash

Description: After focusing Senjutsu into his snaking tongue, Fukasaku then will strike it towards his opponent and because of the natural energy-augmented chakra built up in his tongue; it will become super-fast and sharp. The tongue can then easily cut through almost anything.
Note: Can only be used by Fukasaku.

This is one of the better Sage techs. Channeling Senjutsu to the tongue to make it strong and sharp, it can cut through most solid things so it is a great simple counter to certain earth and earth based techniques.


(Senpo Suiton: Mizuame Teppō) Sage Arts Water Release: Starch Syrup Gun

Description:
The user kneads chakra along with natural energy and then converts it into large amount of high-viscosity water within their mouth, before spitting it outward with an incredible amount of force. The force of this technique combined with its monstrous volume gives it the capability to quickly cover a wide area and span throughout a large range.
Note: Can only be used by Toads who can use Senjutsu or signers of the Toad contract

Simply a dense bullet of water infused with Senjutsu. Not that different from other water bullet based techs.

The above are all techniques that are used by your summoning not you. So I will group them together in one post as you simply need to know how they work, and not how to perform them, because you yourself can't perform them with solely your bio, while the other techniques you can do by yourself or in collaboration.
