The Senju clan were not stronger than the Uchihas for no other reason than them having Hashirama on their side. The manga made this pretty clear. One affinity doesn't make a clan stronger than one. I remember the Hozuki's being proficient in water release yet they don't even compare to the Uchihas. Not to mention the sharigans traits is to copy jutsu in battle and I'm sure they worked out a way to fight water users.

Still doesn't take the fact that sasuke countered all of itachis attack on his own, even though they are not meant to kill him.

My point is that if Itachi aimed to kill, he could beat sasuke no diff

The manga confirmed that Sasuke has more potential than itachi I terms of strength and talent

that was before madara got EMS and kurama...after he got it he and hashirama were equal,hashirama actually didnt beat him,i think it was an illussion....if madara had such power before uchihas wouldnt surrender to senjus,they only surrendered because they saw the supremacy in hashirama`s power

Sasuke can manipulate Amaterasu better and make it a susano shield, unlike itachi.

Sasuke basically countered all attacks from itachi when they fought, even without ms eyes

He didnt even counter anything just dodged most of it Itachi didnt go at him with the intent to kill so it was easy to dodge, I doubt a 3 tomoe could break out of Tsukuyomi even if it from the same family. Thats the only thing he countered and again because he let him, if Itachi manipulated time like against Kakashi, Sasuke would have been done for.

The Senju were superior. I'm guessing it went down hill for them after Hashi died. After that, the Uchiha kept getting referred to as Konoha's strongest. Of course, the Hyuuga refer to themselves as Konoha's strongest all the time so that isn't much to go on.

It seems the Uchiha vs Senju is a potential vs power thing. The Uchiha have near limitless potential due to the fact that their eyes constantly evolve and the can learn the most complex techniques with just a glance. The Senju have the power as their stamina, physical strength, life span, and the power of their ninjutsu is well above average, not to mention their natural aptitude for all forms of techniques. In the end though, every Senju has the body, but few Uchiha have the eyes, even fewer have skill on the level of say Itachi, Sasuke, Obito and Madara, and even fewer still awaken MS, the eyes true potential, and when they do they suffer from bad health and eventually go blind.
