my answer to that is that Naruto's death triggers it.

Iwabe's desire to become Hokage and his love for Hokage in general will turn love to hatred. After witnessing Naruto's death, he feels more and more disdain towards the ninja world. The despair Naruto feels from dying early and not fully realizing his dream will create feelings of hatred which will spill on from the afterlife, corrupting Ashura's spirit. Ashura will possess Iwabe, which will lead to his rebirth as Kawaki! Kawaki will merely take credit for what Jigen, teh dimension master, did (killed Naruto) and will become Kara's 'face' much like Pain in Kakatsuki.

While I did enjoy your thread for luls, why are people so obsessed with Kawaki's real identity?

He looks nothing like Iwabe (or Denki either). Different color skin, neither have blonde hair, grey/light blue eyes, wears different colors, etc.

I'm not saying its impossible, but it looks rather unlikely at the moment.

I'm not sure if they'll retcon Kawaki's original design, but it looks like he has blonde hair and stuff before the time skip when Naruto is 'MIA'.

It could just be that he's just this random guy made by Kara, rather than him being this ultimate plot twist. Like I remember when Boruto ep 1 came out, people thought Denki would be the Sasuke of the series lol..

I like the Kawaki is trying to do vengeance for Naruto's death via carnage scenario though

makes it more interesting and what lead to such a thing that Kawaki finds unjust

Also means Naruto isn't Hokage during that scene and would make even more scene for why the city is destroyed

Kawaki was teased 5 times in covers from anime and manga. i doubt he's a random fodder
