Madara partly told some of the story to Hashirama. More than likely, it was a story that was also passed down to the Senjus as they are also a descendent of the Sage's sons just like the Uchihas. That was a tablet that only Doujutsu users can read. I imagine the Senju were told stories thought as fairytales but Hashirama was later convinced by Madara they were not just myths. Hashirama being the man he was, probably looked into it more and began to learn the history behind the Sage and the Juubi

Exactly, he must be about as knowledgeable as Madara is when it comes to SO6P and everything related to him.Him and Madara are his close descendants after all....Plus Hashirama is nowhere near the typical shinobi so obviously he has all sorts of secret knowledge, if one of SO6P sons got a tablet it should only be fair for the other to get one as well.

Those tablets were obviously passed down to their descendants,Senju and Uchiha...just my two cents.Only Kishimoto can say for sure though.

but to read the tablet you need sharingan-ms-ems=rinnegan
