A vet who posed with a gun for a selfie died shortly after shooting himself in the head by accident.

Oscar Aguilar showed off on Facebook by posting photos of himself in front of sports cars, sitting on motorbikes and hugging attractive women.

But the Mexican’s desire to impress proved his downfall when he borrowed the gun and snapped himself waving it about.

Neighbour Manfredo Paez, 57, said: ‘I heard a gunshot and then I heard somebody screaming.’

The 21-year-old died on the way to hospital in Mexico City.

He had failed to realise the gun was loaded, police said.

Well, yes, I'm weird.

Although I don't understand how you take a selfie with a handgun and manage to shoot yourself. There is a thing in the military that we teach called "trigger discipline" - meaning you keep your finger away from the trigger until you are ready to make the firearm do what it is designed to do. The safeties are just there to prevent it from going off while tucked away or in the midst of a scuffle (in the case of a triple action safety like the M9 ).

That said - while a self-taken photo every now and then is not a bad thing, we have gotten into an overly narcissistic culture with 'selfies' taken everywhere out of boredom or attention-seeking. Facebook has turned into like an amateur porn casting for teenagers, and it's kind of disturbing when the kids you used to babysit post facebook pictures designed to give Jiraiya a nosebleed.

On a serious note, that's a terrible way to die. His family and friends is probably going to have to endure a lot of shit, especially if they live in close proximity of any devout haters or enemies. The jokes and mockery that is probably going to ensue...

Anyways, I don't get what his point was in the first place. Was it to be tough? I'd figure it was considering he was 21 y/o.
Though, I don't get it. Don't your get enough self-confidence and contentment from having a job as a vet? He helps animals, and what not. Seems like an awkward situation.
