To be fair, using all 5 Nature elements simultaneously at a large scale while 5 Kage couldn't even defend themselves is a pretty big feat.

Not necessarily. All of the other ninja have to watch their chakra levels. Hiruzen doesn't... Which is why it was no big deal for him to stop this. However cycle back to part 1 where he could only make 2 shadow clones to defend against Hashirama and Tobirama. This is that same Hiruzen. Edo Tensei Hiruzen stop thats easily. Alive Hiruzen would have been shit on.

Exactly! Look how they're now because of that: Tsunade is done after backing up the other 4 kage + the alliance and Onoki is panting, saying they have to leave Madara to Naruto.
Mei's jutsus aren't doing anything, A can still run around but doesn't seem to be going anywhere and Gaara is occupied with Naruto (dunno how well he is after battling alongside Shukaku but he must be near his limit too).

Even if the other ninja didn't have to watch there chakra levels, it would take multiple ninja of the same element to match the power of that shinsuusenju, meanwhile it only took one Hiruzen (clone) to rival its power. This is no different from when madara first used great fire annihilation and it took multiple ninja to try to stop it. Don't down play hiruzen's feat just because you weren't impressed.

And during part 1 he only made 2 clone because he didn't wanna waste chakra. Hiruzen didn't know how long that battle would take place and he didn't wanna waste chakra on unneccesary jutsu. Him and orochimaru's battle last for more the a hour and 30 mins, so at his age it was wise of him to be cautious.
