Hello guys, I always wondered why old Hiruzen become so weak in compare to hyped his Prime age. The reason can be just old age or small amount of chakra as old age can not take your ability to do something technique away or same with smaller amount of chakra. It may make you unable to use more chakra-costed techniques.
The old age can only make you physcially weaker, slower and has less stamina so less chakra. After we know that and if that hype was not Kishi's mistake and is going to be really true then it means Hiruzen Sarutobi had to enter special state where his abilities and certain techniques be possible for him. It could also most likely amplify his stats and make him stronger, faster etc.
Now, we know that it can not be Sage mode as only three places are known where the Sage mode can be learnt and all of them are connected to frog, snake and slug.
My guess could be it is something like Kisame fusion with Samehada, like here:
^^Bee's master states that Samehada is key to Kisame's strength... did it not sound familliar ?
Hiruzen is always shown with Enma being summoned in shape of adamantine staff, as you can see here:
What if Enma's summon is key to true Hiruzen's power as well ?
sounds farfetched... I don't think so. Even according to Japan story about some man having contract with monkey which was all his strength and the full power he got when he merged with monkey.
Here is how Hiruzen could looks like after fusion with Enma:
^^ We know that Enma is master of transformation, so why not ?
or maybe he will looks close to him:
Imagine Hiruzen with fur on his body and with tail comming out of his lower back, it could looks epic.
Keep in mind that Kishi is fan of dragon ball so he may pull something like that.

Even if Kishi didn't have it in mind for Prime Hiruzen... then I don't see why he could not pull it off now to power up Hiruzen in part 2
Of course there would some explanation why Hiruzen could not merge with Enma in his old age... maybe it could worn him out too fast, and in fight against Edo Tensei would accomplish nothing.
