A lonely path cast in
Shadow, an empty void
Created by sorrow.
I see you standing in the distance,
Alone in the cold, watching the star light
Shine for those you cannot hold .
Your smile is forgotten,
Your laughter forsaken,
Your dreams of hope
Crumble to ruin.
Oceans fill with tears
You cry, your empty
Heart; a barren waste

The shadows cringe before

Things that once brought joy forged into weapons
Icy fingers trailing necks, you beckon,
You challenge, "Forever leave me behind"
A summer's heat loving to torture minds
A voracious consumer of dreams
The abuser of self-esteem
Drowning without death personified
Remorseless, you won't even think to apologize
Bitter pills you offer, forcing to swallow
Feelings come and go as you make the body feel hollow
Souls emaciated, happiness devoured
Life faded in the wake of your power
The futile race from your thirst
Dragging the exhausted with you to the earth
