Sea of Headstones

The Sea of Headstones is a massive graveyard located on the outskirts of Sanctuary. It is consumed by the Cedar Forest with hundreds of tombstones littering the landmark, and is a sacred site to the Monks of the Human Order. When asked the Monks tell outsiders of their buried fallen from the First Great War here, to spare themselves the pain of reliving the truth.

There were never any bodies left by the Great Mother Tiamat in her war of extermination, and if there were, they were buried long ago in the East. The grim truth is that this ocean of graves belong to those humans born since the Monks traveled to Kamiyasumi. The Monks immortality was a blessing bestowed upon the individual, and not something transferred to new life. Nergal ensured that the human soul was something unique and irreplicable. In this sense their blessing was a curse, and in the early years of their great pilgrimage many of the Monks were forced to watch their beloved children wither and perish over the decades. Despite this they were still loved, evident by the pristine state of the headstones and surrounding lands. Though rare some still believe the suffering worth the joy of experiencing new life.

Previous post.
This post marks the beginning of my mission using these storyboard elements:
- Scout potential threats (2).

Where as Musashi had come across some eerily quiet areas before, this one was very different. Their were tombstones scattered across the landscape, well kept and evenly space, like this was an actively tended to graveyard. There was not a soul to be sensed here, but to say the air was devoid of spirits would also not be quite correct; the air here was thick with spiritual energies, as one would expect from a venerated graveyard.

Musashi did not sense an ominous or dangerous air around the area, but it was mystical and impressive nonetheless. A graveyard like this spoke volumes, despite its silence. For one a gravesite of this magnitude meant either a generational cemetery, implying there was or had been a definitive civilization here at some point - one definitely developed enough to have funeral rites and intricate stone working capabilities; or that there had at one time been a large amount of people here, who were done in by something - war, famine, pestilence, who knew.

The mere presence of something like this was extremely telling for the history of the island, much like the strange Research Instillation. Those who would be more archeologically inclined would see this as a veritable holy grail of information.

Musashi took a moment to record the general layout of the land in her notes and make note of it on her map that she was constructing, but then she knelt down and payed reverence to the dead.

Though she could not possible know who these graves belonged to, nor what had caused such a tremendous number of deaths, the fact such a gravesite was so well maintained seemed to imply that these were venerable dead, and given her attunement to the spirit realm, she would not dare offend such spirits, not when she had been blessed with - all things considered - a safe journey so far.

After paying her respects, Musashi moved onward, as something in the distance caught her attention.

Leaving Landmark for Sanctuary (286).

This post begins a mission utilizing the following story board element(s):
-Train in new Bijuutsu Techniques (4)
- Grow a closer bond between Jinchuriki and Bijuu (4)

With her essentially being shooed away from the Sanctuary; Mirabelle’s demeanor changed for the moment, she was once again…alone in her thoughts. As she walked aimlessly, she tripped upon the root of a tree - collapsing as the book shaped tablet launched from her hand and landed onto the ground. “GAH, pendejo…” she swore in another language, one that was quite often used in the Water Archipelago by the natives. Her time studying there was quite the worth- learning the rich culture of the vibrant tropical island.

As she gathered her bearings, she looked up - only to see that she wandered into the burial grounds she had passed not so long ago, as she reached out to grab her tablet. “It’s…” she couldn’t finish, as she loomed into the skies above, her eyes becoming dimmed as she leaned against the base of the tree trunk, the soft breeze blowing through her hair, as the lavender scent filled the air. “What am I doing wrong…” she said, lightly tapping the tablet towards her forehead, perhaps this is really all she amounted towards. Just a vessel of a powerful primordial chakra beast, a failure of a leader, a terrible lover and worse of all…a hero to save this world that she held so dear to her.

I should be the one who died those years ago…not Isabelle…” she said, her voice cracking lightly as she held the tears, her eyes starting to water. An almost comforting warmth came about, though it wasn’t physically present - it was the mental warmth of the Nibi, despite still being caged up, sat closer to the gate with her eyes closed, paws crossed as she leaned forward.

Is that how you really feel?
Yes…she was a lot braver and more intelligent than me…
I see, then why don’t you bring her back then?

Mirabelle’s attention shifted to the Nibi, whom suggested something quite vile. “Wh…what the hell do you mean bring her back?!” she started to become irritated. “You damn well know what I mean, those scrolls you gained from the library that day. You are aware on how to perform the Edo Tensai” she finished, only for Mirabelle to fling her hand down within their shared mental scape.

Don’t you dare suggest something like that again or god so help me I’ll…

She paused, realizing what the Nibi was doing, proving Merlin’s point. She was too fixated on her emotional state, she rarely took time to really resolve her own issues at hand. “Ok ok, fine…what do you want me to do then?” she asked, to which the Nibi smiled and placed it’s hand out.

Let’s train

With the word of the Nibi suggesting to train, Mirabelle didn’t have much of a choice. She has been slacking on her work as a Jinchuriki, and as such she needed to become more acquainted with the powers she’s been slowly developing with realizing it. With her mind made up, she got up from her resting posture and onto her feet, planting them firmly on the surface as she watched out into the graveyard, as she breathed in and out. Of course, she didn’t wish to disturb the burials, and with that mind she quickly dashed away as fair as possible as she arrived about a mile away from the location of the burials. “Alright now that we’re in the clear, what am I learning now?” she asked, as she took out a simple dagger and infused it with chakra, making a quick set of hand seals. This gave life to a familiar, a Yang Creation to be more accurate as he landed in front of his master.

You will be my training dummy for today, ok?” she gestured to her creation. “But of course, you’re majesty…” the loyalist agreed but it wasn’t ending as she then bit her thumb, allowing some blood to run down as she made the required hand seals and allowed for a Spawn to be summoned before her. “And so will you” she gestured to the creature of another world, though it was shaped already akin to a fox, a kyubi to be exact. The Yang Creation, simply dubbed Kingsly and the Spawn being called Benimaru.

(Yoton: Nikkou Netsuzou ) Yang Release: Sunlight Forger
Type: Supplementary
Rank: S
Range: Short - Mid
Chakra: 50
Damage: N/A
Description: Derived from “Yang Release: Change Into Hell”, this technique borrows the base principles. After weaving three hand seals, the user through either physical contact with an object or through a wave of Yang energy will grant selective an object life. However, what causes this to differ from is its ability to strictly only affect inanimate/non-sentient objects devoid of chakra. This is includes but not limited to, flora, tools, etc. Once the yang energy is infused into the object in question, the user can apply a form of manipulation to its structure alongside the use of the transformation technique. This can allow them to grant the inanimate object a humanoid body of average size. The user can also have the object in question take other forms such a tree becoming a wooden dragon or water becoming steaming hot blob. The appearance while mostly cosmetics can also rule possibilities of anatomy uses like having wings will grant them the ability to fly etc. In terms of inherent abilities, each familiar born is gifted 300 chakra points/80 HP, full human-level sentience which includes articulation, an elemental affinity (Non-Yang Specialist Can only assign one of the basic natures whereas Yang Specialists can grant AE or CEs). In the case of AE and CEs, they cannot however use the sub-elements. They move at the user's base speed but have x1.5 natural tracking. This technique can be used twice per battle, requiring a cooldown of two turns after usage and prevents the use of Yang Release above and including A Rank for two turns. The familiar shall remain in play until its chakra naturally runs out, has taken too much damage which in those cases reverts back to its normal form prior or if the user doesn’t have chakra to further sustain its body. The ranged chakra wave version can only be applied to one object, though it cannot work on anything within the opponent's person such as clothing, weapons, etc unless they remove it themselves such as thrown weapons. It doesn’t affect sentient weapons as well and indestructible custom weapons. The ranged variant cannot influence anything within short range of the enemy.
(Kuchiyose No Jutsu: Tamago no Kuto~urufu ) Summoning Technique: Spawn of Cthulhu
Type: Summon
Rank: A
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 30
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user performs the Summoning Jutsu, either through Hand Seals, or their Summoning Tattoo in order to summon forth a Spawn. These monstrosities are the basic summons of the contract, all appearing the same so to speak. While in base form, they resemble their father, they lack his wings which is used for flight (though can be grown via Anatomy of Shapeshifters). However in the end, they are his foot soldiers - showing little diversity outside of their shared abilities. Their Madness Induction is considered A-Rank, affecting Chunnin Ranked and Below Shinobi or B-Rank and Below Summons/Animals. Personality wise, all the Spawns can sometimes be deemed rather mindless. It's rather rare for any of them to exhibit any sort of personality outside being completely devoted to the desires of their father and the Vessel of the Outer Gods, but they are capable of thinking for themselves in terms of combat or other problem solving skills/everyday task. Some of them are capable of utilizing one of the basic five elemental natures (to be stated when summoned) but this can only be used up to A-Rank without the need of hand seals They move at speed equal to that of a Chunnin Ranked Shinobi while capable of tracking them by x2 their base speed (gained from Eyes of the God) while being roughly ten meters tall, though can easily shrink down via Anatomy of Shapeshifers.

Note: Only one Spawn can be summoned at a time or be present. They can be Summoned thrice per battle. They remain in battle until they are defeated or dismissed by the Vessel of the Outer Gods.

With the two summoned, the watched each other and gave an attitude, much to their master’s amusement - but alas, the two would have separated from Mirabelle about five meters, as she waited for the Nibi to give her instructions. “Alright, we’ll be testing just how much of my chakra you can handle now. You’ve become accustomed of using your chakra shroud, but now its time to up the level of power, by allowing you to try and gain control of your Version 2 state” the Nibi said, though Mirabelle was a bit lost. “Version 2? What does that ev…” she tried to finish but the Nibi had already started to leak some of her chakra in a larger amount of quantity for Mirabelle. In an almost immediate reaction, red chakra started to spiral around Mirabelle as she got down on all fours, her finger nails turning into claws, as her canines sharpened akin to fangs. “GRHHHHHHHHHRAWWWHHHH!” she growled, as the chakra bubbled around her body, her skin peeling essentially - as the twin tails behind her started to solidify in coloration.

Master?” Benimaru tried to pry into his master’s mind, trying to communicate with her but alas, no response. “Concentrate, don’t give into the influence!” the Nibi instructed as Mirabelle’s claws scraped the ground. “GRRRRRAAHHHHH!” she continued to fight against the power of the Nibi’s powerful primordial chakra, taming it. And finally, she snapped.

Quickly the chakra erupted outwards, almost up to mid range away - the violent breeze blowing the training partners back, though Benimaru planted one of his tentacles into the ground, anchoring himself while Kingsly flew back a bit but regained his composure.

( Nibi Fukanzen Henji no Justu ) - Two Tailed Initial Transformation Technique
Type: Mode
Rank: S
Range: Short
Chakra: 50 ( +600 Chakra, -20 per turn )
Damage: N/A ( +30 to Fire, Bijuu Techniques and Taijutsu )
Description: When the incomplete form is activated, the user borrows chakra from Matatabi before a dark red, nearly black layer of chakra envelops them. The Jinchuriki's muscle mass increases as cat ears and large nails as well as two distinctive tails are created. Entering Version 2 creates a great deal of energy, producing craters beneath the user and destroying any restraints that might have been placed upon them beforehand while pushing other users back to mid range. The user becomes capable of reducing up to 40 damage per attack and can ignore the drawbacks of the Health System while in this form.
Note: This form only lasts a maximum of 10 turns.
Note: Can only be used twice, after each usage the user cannot activate it for at least 6 turns. Should it end, the user is left unable to use any Bijuu jutsu above A rank for two turns.

Mirabelle finally managed to get a grip, her mind no longer running wild - as she was awakening inside her mind, next to the closed gate. “So this is Version 2…it feels…powerful” she commended the amount of power just bursting through her body currently. “Hehe, of course…that’s not all…why not take it out for a swing?” she suggested to Mirabelle. ALRIGHT! she shouted, also doing it in the real world. “Sorry for that, still getting use to this shit…oh well, ready?” she asked to both her companions, both of whom seemed to be super concerned now, as she rears her hand back, allowing a powerful blue fire stream to be released from her mouth, allowing to quickly cover ground towards the opponents though this wasn’t the same as normal. “Wait!” she sensed it, the high spiritual nature of the flames, so instead of burning the targets physically, it did so spiritually, something neither of her companions was ready to handle.

( Aoi Katon: Aoi honoo Hikari ) - Blue Fire Release: Blue Flame Beam
Type: Offensive
Rank: A
Range: Short - Mid
Chakra cost: 30
Damage points: 60
Description: The user concentrates fire chakra into its lungs and breathes out a unique blue flame from its mouth that converges on its target in a straight line before spreading out and burning them and the surrounding area.
Note: Can only be used by Jinchuriki of the Two-Tails.

Oops…sorry guys!” she said, watching as they spiritually burn at the moment though her attention wasn’t any longer to them, as they both served their purpose rather…too quickly as the Spawn dispersed back to his homeland, while the Yang Creation simply turned back into a weapon form. “That is what I called Spiritual Blue Flames, one of my strongest and most unique powers” she commented, as Mirabelle placed her hand out, demonstrating her new found ability. “I like it” she said, closing her hand now, as she released her transformation.

New power feels really good…” she said, flexing her hands together as she looked back at the Sanctuary out in the distance. “But it’s still not enough…” she said, turning into the direction of the civilization. “I want to learn it” she announced, as she started to walk back but her partner stopped her.

Learn what?
The Atavistic Flames, if it was used to forge these weapons…imagine what it can do for me as an actual power!” she was thrilled, with the idea of possibly learning this power but of course, it would take some time. “Well, let’s focus on this for now…then you can go and deal with that, ok?

Fineeeee mom!” she teased her partner.

With the brief training over, Mirabelle’s own aptitude with her partner’s power has simply risen far more than she realized, the seal keeping the beast gated slowly starting to weaken. It was as if their companionship wasn’t getting better as friends, though there are still some differences these two will continue to butt heads about. “Listen…there's something I always wanted to ask you…” she said, sitting down back at the tree she originally found.

Hmm?

What’s your name…like your real name

Urm…why do you ask?

There was an air of awkwardness, but Mirabelle cleared it quickly. “Well…now that we are starting to somewhat become friends…I don’t see a reason to call you ‘Nibi’ anymore…” she said, a bit embarrassed, which the Nibi couldn’t help but notice.

Hmm…well…my birth name is Matatabi, it was given to me by my late father. The Sage of Six Paths” she said with a bit of pride. “Of course, but I didn’t know you all had names like we do…” she said. “Well, being known as just beasts of chaos and carnage didn’t exactly put us in humanities favor, but that’s no fault of mine. Blame my wilder brothers for that…left me no choice but to defend myself” she said but Mirabelle rolled her eyes.

Bullshit, you’re no better than me or even them sometimes, holy than thou crap doesnt do you well!” she joked. “Hmph, oh well - let’s take a break, enjoy the setting sun…” the two resided in this position for a while.

End of mission.

With her rest over and done with, Mirabelle figured she would have gotten up from the base of the tree and headed out to meet with the other two to share in her discovery. Though something in the back of her mind was itching, she couldn’t tell but it was itching like a bitch. “We’ll continue our work when we find those guys again” she mentioned ot Matatabi, the blue yokai nodding.

After a bitter reveal back at the Sanctuary, he had still gotten one question answered to it. What remained now was to find out the plot of the whole creation and sudden manipulation of Clarity Control, an ancient relic made out of Suen. The trio had now entered a massive graveyard of a forgotten time.

Only the insane asks questions on a Graveyard..

Color me insane then, Exo.
There was no coincidence that Alucard had seeked out this part of the Outer Lands for clues. He began preparing for the grand ritual, an advanced Kinjutsu that would allow him to raise the dead. This was a technique that used earth release combined with Kinjutsu that allowed Alucard to raise the dead, either a horde of low intellect and imperfect beings or just one. One perfected. The ground shifted as his chakra spread through it and encased the grave infront of him. Adelaide remained suspicious of his ritual. She firmly planted her hand towards the tombstone, expecting the worst outcome. Suddenly the soil started to move and Alucard felt his daughter reacting in a panic.

Don't worry, this is nothing like your brother.

P-promise?

I promise.
The dead tore the earth around the surface surrounding its grave. Alucard scanned the body thoroughly with his Tenseigan. A cut chakra network clotted this now resurrected female. He had hoped it was a warrior of the past, allowing him to gain some access to the fate of Clarity Control. She was now complete and stood above her grave with a stale expression. Perhaps the soul had not come to realize what yet had occurred. Alucard crossed his arms.

Welcome back to the chaos.
She remained silent but walked slowly towards him with a dead stare. Realizing the debacle he'd be in if the monks ever found out what he had done here he decided to move away from their domain with the resurrected with them. With complete control over her body, he steered her towards him and had her fall over his shoulder so that he could carry her.

They won't approve, let's leave.

Oh dear, what did i sign up for..
