What a shame. The majority of the scottish citizens voted for the separation, right? If so, seems the corrupt british don't like to give up all the resources that stem from scottish lands. Like their water springs
^ Agreed. They have already reneged on the deal to give more powers. Ed Miliband and Cameron have said they can't stick to the time table. Pure Lies.

YAY! You know people think that it is good but I don't know why, maybe because it is not there country being torn apart. Scotland wasn't conquered you know, it was unified under King James, who was Scottish. Also Scotland would have suffered a great deal and what about all the Scottish people in England and all the English people in Scotland, what about the business, student, soldiers...hundreds of years of unity out the window...I don't get why people don't like England, we are one of the most charitable, open minded, kind hearted nations and always the first to offer aid, even to countries we don't have good ties with.

We might not be perfect but no country is

I live in Scotland, for the longest time its felt like I don't have a country. British does not equal Scottish + English its just another way to describe being English. How could it not there are 60 million of them.

Your wrong about Scotland being conquered, it was bought with English gold if you didn't know. After successive wars in which Scotland has either been systematically pillaged or manipulated.

Ever heard of the Highland clearances? They basically broke up the clans that had always lived there and scattered them to the winds they destroyed our culture. I've never heard an Englishman apologize for it. And I never will because of their supreme arrogance.

Scottish soldiers were used as cannon fodder for years. Not even 70 years ago that practice was unsaid and accepted amongst English generals. Always the scots were sent in first. It wasn't a position of honor its an excuse to kill off whole generations of Scottish men. This happened look it up. Something far less tenable for small Scottish towns compared to the far more populous English.

Business? Vat? Poll tax? Giving us less back in funding than we give you in tax? We pay more tax than we get back under the Barnett formula.

Face it your country is robbing us blind never mind the oil. And they have the gall to say we are subsidized by England.

You don't know a damn thing about this situation yet you presume to talk about it from your high horse.

Your deluding yourself, your a nuclear country that engages in illegal wars that kill thousands of innocent civilians. Your still playing at being the British empire. Take a good look at your country.

You have the largest group of unelected law makers outside of CHINA!!! Does that not make you think!? Your members of the house of lords get £300 just for signing into the house then they can leave again. Thats the reality of your government.

The house of lords recently disallowed the Scottish parliament from disagreeing with fracking. IE they removed powers from the Scottish parliament without ANY oversight.

I know the relationship between Scotland and England has been unfair, (to say the least), and a lot of wrongs have been committed and I understand culture was lost by the actions of those men long ago and I'm sorry.

Although Scotland was unified under James the 1st not conquered in the sense that I meant I understand that Scotland was treated terribly and a lot of wrongs have been committed.

I'm not on a high horse. I consider Scotland family and I can only see it from that point of view my intentions and opinions are sentimental and from emotion and I'm sorry that offends you but there you are.

I don't share your opinions of UK and considering I have such high respect for Scotland don't appreciate them and I know the government sucks I don't need telling that.

My only attempt was to express my gladness that Scotland is still part of the UK and my worry of the woes it would face under independence, if that came across as arrogance them I'm sorry, it was meant in affection only.

Nobody would benefit if Scotland became independent.

The only "benefit" is that Scotland can satisfy its ego by being able to say it's its own country. Otherwise, the economy, business, resources, it all gets weakened for everyone and yet again, there would be another divide in the world.

That highly depends on wether or not the scottish people take their rights into their own hands after independence is granted. Abolish the tax income, put healthcare and voluntarism as highest priority and less regulations and laws that shave away at their freedom. The british are masters at slavery by banking and systematic infiltration of free communities.

But the most likely outcome if scotland were to become independent would be more corrupt ppl with ambition trying to get a invisble dog collar around each scottish' necks.

Yeah I guess your an advocate of total cultural dissemination. We the Scottish people would have benefited, the Tax that we pay would go to our own government that would pay for better services and preserve the ones we have. We could have a real constitution that enshrines things like national health care for all time. Don't tell me that being part of a globalist imperialistic government is the "better" idea. A government that has perpetrated in the deaths of thousands maybe even millions over the years.

Well then you are one amongst a great many who don't see us that way. But the fact remains our own culture will disappear rather quickly over time. The influence of your media and your government will see to that.

Facts are that the future we could have had would have been far brighter than the one we are now presented with. Yes Independence would have been hard but it would have had a future. Now all we can really look forward to is the opening of more food banks in a country that is oil rich....joy.

I thought you were a smart and reserved person, I'm afraid I misinterpreted your nature to a vast degree. Thank you for your snide remark.

True but at least I could take a train down to Edinburgh and kick the crap out of who ever is starting to pull shit.

Small democracy in small countries works out far better than in large monolithic countries. Just look at America its basically unstoppable for its own people.

Take Iceland as an example of my statements they put their bankers in jail lol. Thats what we should have done.

The butthurt is strong in this one.

Please take your uneducated derrière back where it belongs; the toilet. You're clearly no more competent than the UKIPian apes - you can't even use the rep system properly. You use Iceland as an example but don't even seem to know that being loners has led to them relying on other countries to tie their economy together and because they're alone, economic crises will hit them harder because there is nobody to share the burden, they were even the first to apply for emergency aid this side of the century.

They're limited in every way possible. If Scotland became independent, business chains and manufacturers would start leaving them and they would end up similar to Iceland - limited spheres and limited manufacture seeing as the divide would mean businesses who have chains in Scotland would suffer because of all the extra economical complications.

The mere tax alone doesn't come to compensating everything they lose. We point out these things not just for our benefit, but for the Scots too. Also, a sharp tongue doesn't make people want to talk to you - Derp was only joking around, no need for the sniper-style remark.
