Apparently scientist are just now discovering (YES JUST NOW, IN 2017), that humans have another organ in their body called the "Mesentery", which according to them is a digestive organ. What it does exactly, no one knows. My real concern is why are we just now finding out about this.

Humans have been on this planet for thousands of years, surgery and autopsies have been a thing for over 200 years, and after thousands upon thousands of surgeries and thousands upon thousands of autopsies, we are JUST NOW finding out about this? What the ****??????????? This is honestly pissing me off, what is life?

I swear to god the Mandela Effect is real.

This doesn't say anything about science. It says a lot about people who are so certain they know the world.

This is incredibly misleading. They didn't discover a new organ. The structure that is being called the mesentry has been known to exist in humans for a long time now. What is new is that it's now being classified as an organ. They didn't open up a person recently, see this, and go "Yooo look at this brand new thing."

Yep. A click bait title. 'Mesentery, now has been classified as an organ', probably would be boring title..

One of the earliest descriptions of the mesentery was made by Leonardo da Vinci, and for centuries it was generally ignored as a type of insignificant attachment. Over the past century, doctors who studied the mesentery assumed it was a fragmented structure made of separate sections, which made it pretty unimportant.

But in 2012, Coffey and his colleagues showed through detailed microscopic examinations that the mesentery is actually a continuous structure.

Come on dear, try to think, don't blame science, the part from which the organ was discovered was an uninteresting part and old people researched and others read it and that's that. Since new technology has reached the medical sphere, we are more interested in Genetics and neurology and so people overlooked a tiny organ which looked like just an extension of membrane.....

The reason I left it for pure maths. I couldn't keep up with a indefinitely old universe with "out bounds" unprovable be it mathematically nor experimentally.

When Andrei Lindei said 2 "existence" strings' collision might be in cause of multiple universe births. I closed my book and said good bye to science...

Define the term "new", then we talk.

Yeah, you beat me to it.

This is seriously nothing that spectacular or unusual. In the end this is just a matter of perspective. Scientists have known for centuries about its existence, they simply never qualified it as an individual, separate organ. However recent research has shown it has all the qualifications to be defined as such.

This is a case similar to how Pluto lost its status as planet. Originally Pluto was defined as being a planet, but a few years ago it lost that status due to new findings which made it not conform anymore with the definition of a planet. That however doesn't take away that Pluto is still very well up there. So it's rather sad to see that several people in this thread so easily conceived a misconception based on a rather shallow misdirection purely meant to draw in people to read the articles about this topic and then adopt a condescending attitude towards science.

If anything this shows exactly who science works: conclusions are drawn from experiments and research, however when now information arises, those conclusions have to be revised.

Theoretical Astrophysics Physics remains an abomination to science.

a science of "my equation is more difficult to disprove than yours therefore it's right."

Obviously you are a smart guy. So look up what theoretical in theoretical astrophysics. The equations fit within accepted parameters but obviously it's still theoretical. Remember when black holes were only theoretical explanations for a component in a equation???

exactely this. but of course religtards are the perfect victims to such clickbait titles, and dont even understand the article/news themselves, and are quick to jump on a "hate on science"rant.

Bruh! I left physics fraternity because of that. There are almost 0 intelligent physicists who are enthusiastic about the field these because of what it has become. Most are over optimistic individuals who'll end up like us as well. I blame it on Higgs and Allan Guth! It's like you're chasing no where fats with multiple equations which you hope aren't disproved while you're still alive and get rich by it etc

You're quick to assume I'm religious. But, I'm not going to front. It was a **** up on my part for not looking into this before posting. Click bait got the best of me.
