A lot of people do not consider Sasuke's sword to be a helpful tool in battles and dismiss it in versus threads. Here's some manga proof to re-evaluate the sword's power...

We saw when he used it against Yamato it cut Yamato's kunai in half...Sai, however, was able to stop an attack by grabbing Sasuke's wrist. When Yamato tried blocking the sword itself, he was unsucessful and it resulted in Yamato being injured.

Apparently, his sword cannot be blocked when he channels chidori through it, and the blade becomes sharper.

Being hit with it paralyzes the opponent, too. So if you get hit, you're pretty much done for because you won't be able to move...And of course, nothing can stop the sword without stopping Sasuke's hand movements.

The sword is also considerably long, so it gives him a good range.

Well, what do you people think? :) Should it be considered useful in versus threads?

If he were going up against someone with wind, he wouldn't need to use chidori with it. But that aside, the only person shown with a wind weapon was Asuma, and he's dead.

I hate Sasuke but his skills with a blade are top notch. That's the only credit ill give him. Other than that I hope he swallows a rasenshuriken and it rips him apart from the inside out. Thank you and I'm out :D

Personally i see no difference between his kusanagi sword and another sword except maybe its durability. It cut through Yamatos kunai because of the lightning release, nothing more. We've seen later that Killer-Bee swords(which are nothing special) matched his Kusanagis sword without problems

I've always wondered why he doesn't use it more often. He seems quite deadlier when he does.

I agree the sword is underrated. When Sasuke hit Raikage with the blade from a sneak attack that was lame how the sword didn't even pierce his shoulder.

I think your over exaggerating the numbness factor a bit. Shortly after Yamato got hit he said something along the lines of "I didn't want to do this in front of them but I will have to kill Sasuke". Meaning that even after Yamato was hit and had gone numb (which just pushed it out anyway) he had enough movement to kill Sasuke if needed. I'm on a phone atm, but I will try edit the page in later.
