I don't think Sasuke would join Naruto to battle toneri. In the latest trailer I believe he is saying "while he is gone, I will protect you."

I assume he is referring to naruto who has gone with a team to rescue Hanabi and face toneri. Konoha is also kinda under attack as prices of the moon seem to be raining down on it.

Sasuke is therefore probably defending konoha from this onslaught. A serious waste of his skills but whatever. This would be good for toneri tho. As he definitely wouldn't be able to take on Lord Naruto and Godsuke.

He's probably gonna defend Konoha- yep. Once he sees the meteorite, he'll probably figure something related to Kaguya is going on, and leave Naruto to handle it. He'll head over to Konoha, to protect it while Naruto is gone blah blah blah, then return to wandering, maybe some small bit depicting his relation to the city itself will be featured... But I do think that he only has a real relation to Naruto, so there may not be much room to develop him.

Then again, maybe we'll see his character development hinted at or something. Worth thinking about.

I'm actually wondering about this. Given that Naruto promised Sakura he'd return Sasuke, I wonder what that would entail? You may have a point.
