That's how uchiha powers ups work bruh .. Madara got his brother eyes to get ems and sasuke got his brother eyes to get ems.. If there was another way to awaken ems I'm sure sasuke wouldn't want his brother eyes.. Itachi was going blind and so was sasuke ... If it was the other way around Itachi would take sasuke eyes to get ems too

Well, even if he didn't get Itachi's eyes his MS would've evolved into Rinnegan sooner or later, and one more thing, Sasuke's current eyes are not Itachi's anymore it's Sasuke's, or rather it's both their eyes, because despite them being Itachi's eyes it holds the fusion of Itachi's and Sasuke's powers, Sasuke with EMS is basically MS Sasuke+MS Itachi
