I think that'd be too simple. He didnt leave his mark anywhere for that first shift so it isn't like FTG. I also don't think he is losing any tomoe. In the panel that naruto tells sasuke to go after Madara he still has at least 2 rings of tomoe. The other panels are mistakes in my opinion.

No because the 2nd hokage can teleport without using tags

I guess so, its just when the word shifting/teleportation is mentioned, people often think of anywhere desired to be the destination rather than having to SEE it. Like for sci-fi, you have coordinates and bam youre there, or night crawler and azazel fro X-men can just think of a place and jump there as well as in DBZ world, or the 2nd and 4th they have the kunai. Sasukes different though and we dont know a lot about it. But it is safe to say that yes, it is teleportation.

I thought Sasuke speed blitzed Madara but it just didn't make sense to me since Sasuke told Naruto to aim his Rasengan towards him. Ever since then, I thought he was using some form of FTG but the idea of shifting actually makes a lot more sense. Great analysis and great thread!

I actually thought Sasuke had transported himself and Naruto to where Madara was. His time space jutsu is being revealed slowly. Teleport to a certain spot, himself and others and objects, can also switch with objects (tbc).

Loving the way this is shaping up, Naruto and Sasuke's powers are exciting!! Good times ahead.
