Remember in the latest chapter when Sasuke told naruto that all the bijuu will burn. In the JAlpha translation it sheds a little light instead of saying let them all burn Sasuke said "they all die". The current system is kept in balance by the bijuu. If Sasuke is targeting the destruction of the current shinobi system this might actually be the smartest and fastest way to break it. :hooray::hooray::hooray::hooray::hooray:

Actually, that might be true because hashirama actually was really shocked when Sasuke said he would destroy the bijuu. Then again it might just be that something really bad happens if the bijuu die.

Except Sasuke has no way of knowing that. Sasuke is simply making the most logical decision based on the info that he has. An enemy is attacking. Therefore, kill it. For all Sasuke knows, the tailed beasts are evil and will go on a rampage if released. So the safest thing to do would be to kill the ten tails.
I do think what he is doing is wrong. Sasuke may be much less dark than when he was at the Five Kage Summit, but be is becoming like Danzo, and Naruto will have to save him from the darkness he has left.
