Only Indra incarnations can get EMS, I believe. Sasuke still has his old eyes and Itachi's eyes, as well as Hagoromo's Rinnegan. They fused together.

It is still fanon that only Indra incarnations can get EMS besides even if it's true Sasuke's MS would still possess Indra's chakra like Hashirama's cells still Asura's chakra which would potentially giving Itachi the EMS.

The terms used to describe gaining the EMS are exchange and trade and speak of their brother's eyes gaining eternal light at no point was it stated that the users original eyes were fused with their bothers eyes that is also fanon.

Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan lasts forever, it never goes blind, which is why it has the "eternal" prefix.

MS goes blind over time. However, taking another Uchiha's MS will give you EMS and combine your power.

That said, it's still up to speculation as to whether or not EMS will still go blind from using Izanagi or Izanami. It seems like a contradiction.
I suppose one could argue that the EMS stops the degenerative effects of the MS jutsus, but Izanagi and Izanami are independent of the MS are thus still makes the user go blind.
