How can Sasuke defeat thousands of shinobis relying on swordsmenship and manage to not kill them? I could understand if he was using a reverse blade sword like ruroni kenshin, but he uses a sword that can easily kill cut down any opponent.

Oro even goes on to say something I just couldn't grasp on my thoughts around...

Also they were fodder vs a high level Shinobi. I mean, he had the AoE Chidori, Kirin, curse seal and Kirin. And fire jutsus.

He's not MS/EMS Sasuke but I never thought of any of his Phaze 2 stages as not powerful. A feat yes. Underated, probably to quite a few. Are some people overrating it? I think so.

This feat is nothing short of a stroke of genius. Oro even admits his inferiority in that regards. Valor has nothing to do with this.

I just noticed it didn't but you can tell he used it. There are a ton of swords on the ground and Sasuke has his sword out. Sasuke was a kenjutsu expert at this point, he traded his tai skills for kenjutsu.

Those were fodders as well and I thought he did die from that? oro cares and called him a genius for it and was not just about the number of opponents. He managed to keep them alive and not a drop of blood was spilled.

And he was never meant to be fighting against them, or killing them. The special thing is that he can defeat all of them without a single drop of blood spilled. That's like true swordsmanship mastering i.e. precise enough strikes to defeat the opponent without ever spilling the blood.

You guys think that a sword that can slice rock is amazing. I think that a sword that can cut a piece of cloth in air is even more amazing. The latter is exactly what Sasuke's defeating of those ninjas corresponds to. That isn't about fighting them or killing them (Sasuke could have killed all of them if he wanted), this is about defeating them without killing them, an even greater accomplishment that even the best of swordsman might fail at doing.

There is no way of knowing one way or the other...a combination of Sharingan genjutsu and lightening release to paralyze his opponents could have been used.
