What exactly did EMS unlock for him?

Nothing. He just doesn't go blind when using strenuous mangekyo sharingan techniques. It's not Perfect Susano'o either because MS Kakashi used it.

It strengthens the core abilities of the sharingan.
There are two types;the straight comma and curved comma sharingan.
The straight one is noted for its emphasis physical(Or as the wiki states "granting the fluidity of movement") combat which is shown through utilization of the precognition ability to predict moves and counteract them involving in yourself psyhically and the curved one puts empahses on spiritual energy like being particualry strong in genjustu.

To have a mangekyou that combines the staright and curve aspects is to have the strengths of the core abilites at their best.
The only real tangibly apparent difference is the fact that it stops the user from going blind.

He had itachi's powes, along with his own...which is still not clear...but I think it was "kagatsuchi/blaze release"...shaping the amaterasu flames and his own susanoo...

Not sure what he had with his original MS, other than those two things..

It might hasten the user's ability to manifest Perfect Susano'o, but with the right amount of Chakra Control and potency, MS can achieve Perfect Susano'o as well.

Given more time with his MS Sasuke would likely have acquired PS. The only thing that kept him from acquiring said PS was his unrelenting blindness. Otherwise EMS did nothing for him other than take away the blindness drawback and, perhaps, give him Chakra potency, which wouldn't really make sense in the context of Sasuke already having chakra potency of an adult at age 8 or so when he mastered the Fireball technique, and proving he was far greater than most adults at age 13 when he was cursed with the Heavenly Seal and not dying, and even mastering it at age 16. Those feats alone prove Chakra potency was already something he had. So the point on Sasuke getting that with EMS doesn't really hold with that mentally hoarded. There's also the assumption it gave him greater precognition, but who's to say that when there's nothing feat-wise in conjunction with that statement, or does Sasuke literally say his precognition improved from inserting Itachi's eyes? If not, that remains only speculation.

I think Kishi originally intended to give Sasuke Itachi's abilities via his eyes hence the statement about Itachi's power flowing through his eyes. However after careful consideration Kishi decided against it because with those powers and 0 restrictions(no blindness) Sasuke would fodderstomp Naruto and everybody else(excluding Madara sama) even without the Rinnegan.

Sasuke attained Perfect V4 Susanoo in Danzo's fight. Why didnt he attain Perfect, then and there?
