Kishimoto basically said in his last interview that it was just a scheme to get readers to continue reading. You're just going to be disappointed if you want him to die for reasons like character development or impact.

Naruto dying will piss people off rather than get people excited.

Nothing good comes if boruto manga literally started off with the movie recap ; people wouldn't read it anyway and it would be even worse case scenario than not starting off withthe showdown between kaweki vs boruto. What kishi said was the smartest move because of that atleast some people would still stick around and read to know what happen like some series does.

I don't understand the logic behind their mindset about killing Naruto off would be bad??

This Manga has shit ratings because no one wants to a read a story when the old MC of 15 years died in the beginning of the continuation. Most people don't even like this series for that reason.

It gets criticized a lot.

Anyway Kishimoto said it was used to draw the readers in, basically confirming its just a marketing ploy

Really up to the author tbh. He may kill both naruto and sasuke so the new generation can shine. Seems weird that kids are fighting when 2 people strong as naruto and sasuke are alive or around. Then again who knows. Either way author going to have write carefully or else there will be confusion.

The mangaka must truly suck at writing if he needs to kill two of the MCs to draw people's attention. But if he wants to kill someone then he should kill Sakura. I'll definitely read that chapter.
