The purpose of this thread is pretty much an analysis of Sasuke's character based on the most recent interview that Kishimoto has done with Shonen Jump.
According to Kishimoto Sasuke's character is pretty much pure and self centered. He also said something that was a little weird at least to me. He said its not about whether Sasuke is good or bad, but whether it is actually bad to be self centered.
Now of course its bad to think only of yourself right? And TBH being only after what benefits himself. So I have spent a couple hours this morning thinking about what exactly Kishimoto could have meant by these statements.
Pure and Self Centered
Well, from the end of part 1 through right before Sasuke talked to Edo Itachi, Sasuke hadn't changed much at least purpose wise. All Sasuke has done was streamline himself into the role of an avenger, willing to sacrifice anything for his ideal of justice.
White
Sasuke is white because Sasuke has never been a follower. Even when being manipulated Sasuke always had his own sense of what was important or right and though he had succumbed to his own hatred his will remained purely his own. Sasuke is able to remain pure because instead of adopting ideologies like Naruto, Kabuto, or Obito, Sasuke takes in information and adapts his mentality based on his own interpretation of truth.
Self Centered
Sasuke is self centered in the sense that what is important to him is always what's most important. Its not that nothing else is relevant, just that everything else is less important, and if its 5KS Sasuke, expendable.
Though I doubt Sasuke is as bad as he was then since his goal is to protect the village, (villagers included) How far Sasuke is willing to go to establish his goal at this point is a mystery.
Thanks for reading.
