Why does Sasuke's Rinnegan look different from Madara's and Hagoromo's? Also, why does he only have one instead of two? He received Hashirama's cells just like Madara from what I remember.

It's probably due to the excess of yin chakra in Sasuke relative to yang chakra. On a side note, Hashirama's cells had nothing to do with Sasuke awakening the Rinnegan.

The reason he only has one is because the 6T is far more powerful than the standard Rinnegan. To be able to create 9 CTs casually and use the targets as cores are incredible feats. Another non Juubi Jin like Nagato could only create one and had to use a gravity core...

yeah the others need a core. I think it's because Sasuke lacks Yang release.

I read a theory somewhere here that went along the lines of Sasuke being able to cast a "Mini Infinite Tsukyomi" kind of like the IT Obito cast in Road To Ninja (yes I know it's not cannon). His pattern is close to the 3rd eye that JuubiJin Madara had but it was missing 3 tomoes I believe. That eye was capable of casting IT so it's possible Sasuke's eye can cast a lesser IT. Remember it's just a theory.

Soo going on the assumption that this is true, it's possible that Hagoromo wanted to give Naruto & Sasuke alot of power in hopes that they would purify the Indra VS Ashura hate cycle. Which they did. Other then the theory though, I have no idea why Sasuke would have that rinnegan.
