Nah, Haku wasn't aiming for vitals and Itachi gave Sasuke hatred as something to live for. That way Sasuke would cling to life. Also, I think Sasuke was 8 when he was at the academy

Because of Naruto. He was keeping up with haku till baka naruto showed up. Naruto would have die too.
