Hey guys!
If you've read any of my few posts, I said before that I believed Sasuke could become Hokage for logistical reasons. I withdraw that statement for two reasons:
1. Sasuke's movements have become too similar to Madara's in that:
-He is going to try and force his "comrades" to acknowledge him as Hokage. Itachi even said that was not the way.
-He understands the dangerous yet true and plausible "cause and end" concept that Madara told Hashirama about before his "death".
2. Sasuke isn't ruled by emotion, he's ruled by misguided logic, which in a case like this, is potentially way more dangerous than the ladder.
- The reason I called his logic misguided is because he, unlike the other ninja of his generation, has consistently searched for the truth since Itachi's death and in looking for the truth, he has found truths and half-truths.
Sasuke depends a lot on knowledge, and in the words of Ibiki, "Misinformation can be worse than no information." So maybe the others are better off not knowing as much as Sasuke does.
Sasuke's goal is clear: instead of mistaking the cause for the end, he wants to make sure the cause can never be the end. The only problem is, he doesn't know that the cause for the Uchiha's being ostracized by the village is because an Uchiha attacked the village. That could change everything, I believe.
In withdrawing that statement, I also wanna say that Madara knew that Hashirama's way was paved with naivete. Madara understood the darkness of the Uchiha clan. He knew the concept behind the Sharingan came from Love and the desire to protect. And like Madara, and Tobirama said, out of that love was born a stronger hatred. He said "darkness will envelope the village" like how darkness eventually takes over the eyes of Sharingan users.
Hashirama said himself that protecting the village is the best way to protect people and he wouldn't forgive anyone who went against that, not even his own children.
Thus, Madara knew that Hashirama's POV had become more Uchiha-like. Hashirama didn't want to lose what he loved, so much so that he was willing to kill, as he claimed. Madara predicted that cause was actually hatred being born out of love for another, and that the end would be the way the way the Ninja world persisted for so long.
