I know the difference between the two. I'm trying to say that Kishi probably designed the Shinigami's appearance using the Yurei as the template. The reaper also has a few of the Yurei's feats, (ie . Spectre, long hair that can bind objects, ugly as fack, etc.)

The theory is a good one. If the souls of the dead do reside in the forest then the Shinigami should too right? It is the god of death. So it's not a fail thread. There have been many positive receptions.

You're forgetting one thing: Oro said to Sasuke they're going to a place they both know well. so it couldnt be this hypothetical swamp. So I say this thread is a major fail.

That's what I thought too, and that is probably what Kishimoto wants us to think. There are too many similarities between the name and this forest, it seems fairly similar to Kishimoto's style of design also.

Kishimoto also sometimes does something expected and obvious, so we can't say for sure what he plans to do with this place. That theory is plausible tho, actually one of two things that Humid Bone Forest can be, so we'll just have to wait and see, I guess.

EDIT: Didn't they say in the manga that they were going to the place they both know? Why would Sasuke know Humid Bone Forest? Except maybe if bones of his family and clan are there.

Not just that, you should look at the picture of Yūrei next to the Death God's inside Turrin's thread. The resemblance is uncanny! That is what sealed the deal for me.

There is no credence to the theory and for Kishi to inject a new and completely unknown magic swamp is preposterous, Occam's Razor states the simplest explanation is probably the correct one, so they will go to Konoha, end.

Sigh... That's exactly what I was pointing out, if you remember they're going to a place they know too well, and since the Uchiha Clans were "martyred" in the eyes of Konoha's citizens it is absurd to bury them in some god forsaken swamp.

Some points you are making are good, and I'm honestly currently more convinced about HBF being home of slugs. Tho this theory isn't completely false either and makes one think. Honestly, I would prefer the place Sasuke and Oro are going to to be something still unknown and a bit mystical, rather than Konoha and elders and something boring like that.

Honestly, I would prefer the place Sasuke and Oro are going to to be something still unknown and a bit mystical, rather than Konoha and elders and something boring like that.

Of course we all hope for that. The same way we hoped that Tobi wasn't Obito because it was so obvious it's ridiculous if it turned out to be true, which it did, but I don't think it's feasible plot-wise to introduce a new area at this late in the story, and one in which Sasuke and Oro are familiar with which was never mentioned before. Also, the reaper really isn't a summoned creature like those toads or slugs, RDS is classified as a sealing jutsu, and the Reaper is the core of that sealing, so it couldn't have a home area like those toads, snakes, slugs or any other summons.
